My wife, kids, and I entered the Pacific Truck Crossing on November 22, 2020. We went inside and filled out some paperwork, and were let in without issue.

That being said, we were not given a record of landing, or any sort of valid status document. As a result my wife can't get an SIN, work, or file for any kind of benefits. How can we get a record showing her status, so we can get her an SIN?

Thank you!

It's not clear on what basis your wife entered. As a visitor? Did she land and become a PR? You need to provide more info.

Unfortunately that's all of the information I have. The agent didn't ask any questions about her status or assign her one. He just let us in.

That can't be all of the information you have. That makes zero sense. I'm not asking about what the agent did, I'm asking about what you and your wife did to prepared for her entering Canada. You must know what her status is in Canada.

Did you sponsor her for PR as your spouse, was the application approved and did she get a COPR?

Did she apply for PR through an economic immigration stream such as Express Entry and get approved? Something else?

If none of the above, then she was allowed in as a visitor. Visitors are not entitled to a SIN and are not entitled to work. They also generally are not entitled to any benefits. You should submit an inland application to sponsor her as your spouse asap. It's going to be quite a while yet before she is able to work in Canada.

FYI - A record of landing is only given to people who have applied for PR and have been approved. If your wife applied for PR, this would have happened many months before your entry to Canada. Did she apply for PR and was she approved?

Did your wife receive citizenship? It didn't sound like she qualified. You will need to sponsor her and she can apply for a WP af the same time. OWP are taking around 6+ months and sponsorship may take over a year.
