MDS (Masters In Dental Surgery) In Oral Biology - Non Clinical Equivalency?

Hi everyone,

My wife has MDS Oral Biology from one of the top medical schools in Pakistan (Dow University Of Health Sciences), it is a non clinical degree and she has been working as Assistant Professor at a renowned medical university (Hamdard Medical And Dental University).

Should we get WES done? she doesn't plan to practice as a dentist but would love to continue her passion of teaching and doing her PHD. Would she require to appear for exams for this purpose as well or would WES equivalency be enough to get her enrolled in a dental school?

Being able to get a full-time teaching at a dental school will be extremely challenging. Canada has a small number of dental schools with litter turnover of professors, she hasn’t completed her PhD while not having a PhD would make her a lot less competitive when applying for a teaching job. If she hasn’t completed her PhD she should look into whether she would be able to transfer to a Canadian university. If she is unable to transfer and is working on her thesis she may be able to continue doing her thesis while in Canada through her university in a Pakistan and fly to Pakistan when it is absolutely necessary.

Is she attempting to come to Canada as a student or attempting to get PR?

both to be honest, come as student so I can work full time and we settle and can get PR in the long run

So she needs to get accepted to a program that builds on her education and shows career advancement/higher pay following the program in your home country to justify the costs. She shows funds and ties to home country too. Your SOWP is not guaranteed so plan for that possible outcome.

Ask the school she wants to attend whether WES is best and what type of ECA.
