Hi Josh21!
Hope you are enjoying your stay in McGill. Just a quick query, how long did you have to wait for admission result, during your application process?
Also, do you live outside or on-campus? can you give us some idea about the expenses on living in montreal (day to day living etc)?
thank you very much! Good luck on your studies
Well, I applyed on Jan 5th,2012. I uploaded my education transcripts on Jan 30th and after that it went to Ready to Review. After about 3 weeks of waiting, it changed to Further Review Required where they asked me to upload a document stating what I was doing during my free time(last 3 months). After that, it went to reviewed-decision pending. In about April, 3rd week they admitted me. So totally it took about 3-4 months for a decision.
I live currently off-campus, right next to the campus actually. I am actually closer to the campus then some of the residences which they refer to as "on-campus".
I plan to shift to on campus housing starting next year though as there's always something fun going on in the residences and its good to meet new people in general. I recommend everyone to try on campus housing for at least one term.
Montreal is very cheap compared to the other provinces. Rent is cheap, usually 600 for a single studio or sometimes a living room+bedroom+bathroom which includes heating/electricity/hot water and sometimes internet. You get shared accommodation for 400 or so aswell.
I dont spend much on day to day expenses because I live so close to the campus so there's no transportation costs. Food is cheap here, primarily pizza if you like it is very affordable. I dont usually eat breakfast since I dont have time because of classes. You can live pretty well for 100$/week on food. If you buy groceries and stuff, you probably will use lesser then that.
Anyother questions, let me know. Oh and guys the McGill Campus is a magical place, the most beautiful thing you'll see in Canada. I feel lucky everytime I pass the campus gates in the morning. There's just something about this place that makes you feel alive. Everyone is super friendly and helpful aswell.
