Hi,
My husband who is a PhD from USA will be applying as the principal applicant.
I (spouse) am an MBBS doctor from Pakistan. I would like to get my ECA done as well so that we get points for my education as well.
Do I have to get it from the Medical Council of Canada?
I have done all my USMLE steps and am ECFMG certified. Will that help?
Has anyone gone through the same procedure?

If you want to get points for your primary medical degree (MBBS), the ECA must be done by the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). It will also help you in the process of licensing for your profession in Canada.

Account setup fee (to set up a physiciansapply.ca account): $278
Source verification services (document fee): $157 per medical credential
Translation fee* $140 per page (if applicable)
ECA report fee $102

I am an MBBS (Doctor of Medicine) from Pakistan. WES USA had evaluated my degree earlier for admission in USA purposes.
Should i have to go with Medical Council of Canada or will WES Canada work?

The ECA report must show that your completed foreign credential is equal to a completed Canadian credential, so the one issued by WES USA (for a US equivalent) won't work. If WES Canada can issue you an ECA for Canada based on their records or your US equivalent, I'm not sure if IRCC would consider/accept that. I am saying this because you have mentioned as not being the principal applicant and chances are that your WES ECA issued by WES Canada might be accepted to allocate points as an accompanying spouse. But you need to confirm this first. Also, the points allocated might not be the same as if the ECA was done by mcc e.g., because to get points for a professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession, the ECA should be done by the designated organization or a professional body (MCC in your case).

Also, if you want to work as a medical professional after immigration, you would need to apply to MCC anyways to get licensed first. So, why don't you start with it right now?

In order to obtain points for your MBBS degree you need canadian equivalency that is done ONLY BY MCC.

So, sign up at physicianapply.ca - fill out the information - only pay for your degree to be verified( MCC, essentially asks ECFMG to verify your degree, and in your case, like you said you're done with Steps, it'll only take a week or so, to have ECA report in hand.

I am a specialist physician and i obtained a masters degree (post graduate) from egypt beside that i already have bachelor degree which is my primary medical degree and the masters my final medical degree
so in case i want to apply in NOC 3111 as a specialist physician..should i assess the bachelor or the masters via medical council ???

An ECA for a medical degree MUST be obtained from Medical Council of Canada (Don't send it to WES). If you already have credentials certified with ECFMG this will make it a bit quicker, but you still go through MCC.

I got an ECA for my medical degree recently, all up it took about 3 months (and that was with sending everything by courier). The way it works is that first you create and pay for an account at physiciansapply.ca . Then you submit and pay for your medical diploma to be verified by the MCC - you pay online, and then have to send a paper copy of your medical diploma (and it must be a copy of the diploma, not the transcript) to MCC. It will take them a couple of weeks to receive the copy and upload it to your account. Then at this stage they send it off to ECFMG for verification. ECFMG then receives it and then they contact your institution of study to verify the diploma and then they will notify MCC when they have verified it. Most institutions will require you to pay a fee to them to respond to ECFMG's verification request. Then once it is verified in your account, you are then able to order an ECA - which will take up to 28 business days to be processed and sent. So allow plenty of time!

It will be a bit quicker if you have an EPIC profile with ECFMG, you can give the MCC your EPIC number when you send in your application

as mentioned on medical council of canada website that {official english or french translations prepared and issued by the university of graduation are acceptable}
and when i contact MCC administrator about that ,they deny !
i dunno what should i do ,,because i have already let the university to translate my diploma ...

MCC is recognised ECA for Medical Doctors..... Any other might be catastrophic!

Dear friends

Can I also ask as to what shall happen if one is MBBS and also MRCGP (from UK)? I plan to apply for the Express Entry and want to have ECA done. Physiciansapply.ca says that they can only issue an ECA for my my MBBS and they say that this is what they 'normally do' (I have spoken to 3 different advisers). However I am applying under the NOC 3112 class of Family Physicians.
I was also planning to apply to WES Canada for the MBBS as it wold save money, however with advice listed above shall go with MCC. However still am confused as I shall be claiming points for Family Meidicine but can only have my MBBS source verified and ECA issued (MCC say that they can do the source verification for the MRCGP but shall not issue a report).
PLEASE advice as I am very confused....
