Hi,

I am not sure if 8 lakhs is enough for a decent MBA. MBA is actually one of the expensive degress. The thing is by working part-time you can only earn your living expenses but not your tuition fee. Moreover if you dont show enough funds it wont be easy to get a visa in the first hand. You must show complete funds to be able to get a visa at first.

You have two options,

Either you can find a sponsor and ask him/her to arrange more funds

or choose another degree which is less expensive. MBA is a good degree but a generic one, don't do it because everyone is doing it.Try to choose a career orientated degre which you think will help you getting a job in the field you want to

will it depends on the university u r choosing??
this topic has be discussed many times on this forum search this forum......If u want to do MBA selection of ur university is very important as ur an entry level and have no experience. If ur not from one of the top 10 universities u probably will face lots of problems finding a job. Dont just do MBA because u have nothing else to do. MBA will cause problems as u wont be qualified for experienced positions and will be over qualified for entry level positions hence no job.....do ur research read up about MBA and what it is all about.....access ur strengths then decide if MBA is right for u or not...as a start read this article i found by a simple google search

I agree with mead, MBA is generally done after 4-5 years work experience in the corporate world. You seem to have a high expectation that you will/might be able to pay part of your tuition fees by doing job. My friend, the best you can do is paying your living expenses from part-time job. Besides its not possible to do full time jobs and studying at the same time. If you are going there to study you will have to be prepared to study for the full duration and do networking during the university career fairs so that you can quickly land on a job after your graduation. Remember nowadays its about who you know not who you are.

You should not be discouraged in going for you MBA.

Let's be realistic, 90% of international student go to study in Canada with the dual aim of getting PR. With that in mind, getting a generic masters degree would not prove as useful or marketable in the market as an MBA.

The scenario that the other two memebers are talking about only applies if:
1. You want to study further with the SOLE aim of furthering your education and career goals, and not to change country/jobmarket
2. You already have a decent job and your satisfied with the pay.
3. You work in or near the industry you want to end up in.

Otherwise, for those looking to change country/careers, I think you can do a lot worse than an MBA. Remember, an MBA these days is all about networking and getting access to resources and the alumni base, not so much about the educational aspect. So change your plans accordingly.

ur wrong ..i agree main aim is to get PR if u leave out provinces who give PR after 2 years of study most of them have PR option after 1 year of work experience ...if u do MEngg there r risks if ur field is not good but u still have an option of finding a job .....doing MEngg get a job in that field and know the indusrty , get PR after 1 year , get experience for 3-4 years in canada and then go for MBA to be effective .... problem is MBA is a administrative/financial / manageral decision makers of a company for the most part and no company would like to hire someone who knows nothing about their indusrty and has no experience....well unless ur from an ivy league university ....also remember when u take ur first job select carefully as that industry seems to stick with u after that....so my suggestion is if u want to go for MBA first experience for atleast 3-4years.

I agree work experience is essential, but you have to realize, work experience not gained in North American doesn't mean squat when you start looking for a job in Canada/US. Unless you have worked in some major multinationals, North American companies would rather look at small internships you've done in the continent or even volunteer work.

Secondly, you says MBA restricts your potential post-graduation job market but I'd say MEngg restricts it a lot more. With an MBa, depending on wht you major in, you can break into almost any industry. I've known people who broke into HSM industry after majoring in Health Services while doing their MBA. You can break into finance, marketing, cosulting, accounting and many other industries. However, with MEngg, it's engineering or bust. Where else are you gonna go? No marketing firm will hire you after your MEngg. No bank will think twice. You'll find work in that very specific industry you mastered in (be it IT, networking, graphics etc) and that's your whole job market. An MBA allows you to have a much wider scope. So my 2 cents, OP is doing the right thing.

Good luck with your GMAT.

so i left the options mba nd job.

can i go for ms in canada by writing only ielts or i need to write gre? nd can i get a job after ms ( my budget is 8 lakhs INR)

1. You're right. It's very hard to find a job in Canada without Canadian credentials. You can read so many sob stories on this forum.

2. If you don't have 2 years of WE, no business school will accept you into their MBA program. Guaranteed.
If you do have 2 years, choice is up to you. You'll have to give your GMAT though, and 99% of the people who choose MS over MBA do it so they don't have to give the GMAT. If you want something good, your going to have to work for it. There are no shortcuts.
