Hi all, we are hoping this might be our last query on our application! I’ll copy this next paragraph from my first post for background :

First a Very brief relationship history, I'm a British citizen from England who married my Canadian wife last year. I came over to live with her late last year & we are preparing our application under the "Spouse or Common-Law Partner In Canada Class", form IMM 5289E, with her obviously sponsoring me as her spouse.

We almost finalised our application now, just trying to tie up the last details.

This query is again on form IMM 5443, the document checklist :-

Near the bottom of page 1, under “For both of you” the last bullet point asks for “Declaration of severance of common-law relationship”. My Canadian wife has not had any common-law relationships, but I have had 2. I have already detailed those on form IMM 5285, explaining that there is no documentation to show the severance of these common-law relationships, as in both cases the relationship broke down & we simply moved out from living together. Also, bearing in mind that I am now married to my Canadian wife (which surely must represent that any previous common-law relationships are finished), does this mean we can mark this as “n/a” on for IMM 5443 & maybe explain again on an additional sheet? We would really appreciate any clarification on this point, as we are unsure how to proceed, & we want our application to be correct.

We really can’t stress enough how valuable these forums are, & what an excellent resource they are in helping to understand some of the more ambiguous problems with immigration paperwork. A huge thanks to all who contribute, it really does mean everything.

I would definitely advise against filing an IN CANADA application. It takes a long time, no right of appeal ect. Being fom the UK you should def file through Mississauga/London You'd most likely be done before they even open your inland application. I wish I'd known this from the very beginning and it would have saved months of wasted time.

call the call center to get the RIGHT information on filling out forms.... no one else can give you the official info. it sucks to be on hold for a long time but it's worth it.

The call centre do not always give the "RIGHT" information.
There are plenty of people in this forum that phone the call centre and get different answers to the same question :)
