it looks like MTL is focusing on reducing backlog ( # of weekly ceremonies remain constant) , unlike Mississauga, preventing new backlog by processing new applications fast.

I got a fingerprint request today from St Clair (so that's my local office, then?)

Timeline:
Application sent: 12-May-2014
Recd line disappeared: 18-Oct-2014

Yup! That is your local office.

Any May applicants got test invites from the Vancouver office?

Just found my local office today via ATIP request (I was curious to see what was in there). It seems my FOSS and RCMP checks are passed, pending the CSIS check (as or 11/11). Other than that, a whole bunch of process tasks, nothing really earth shattering....

Received: May 26, 2014
In Process: July 29, 2014
AOR & Booklet Received: August 24, 2014
Received Line Disappeared:Oct 24, 2014
Test Date: Waiting
Oath Date: TBD
Local Office: Scarborough

Hi

I have closer times lines as yours. When I called CIC yesterday - my file is in TRANSIT. Not yet reached my Scarborough office. It is already 7 months. How long Scarborough office will take? God knows.

Mine is a family application for three (me,spouse and child). I was told earlier by CIC agent it being a routine application.

Now they say in transit. Received line disappeared long back. What checks they are doing ? ha ha

I have travel may be 8 times in those 3 years. US 6 times and outside twice. Frustrating...

That may not be your local office. I was requested fingerprint from St. Clair and the RQ from Mississauga office. My local office is Mississauga.

700 new citizens join the Canadian family in one day at Montreal ceremonies

December 4, 2014 — MONTREAL, QC — Today, Canada welcomed more than 700 new citizens from nearly 100 countries at four citizenship ceremonies in Montreal.

For a new Canadian, the citizenship ceremony marks their formal entry into Canadian society. A citizenship ceremony is a unique part of Canadian civic life. It is one of the few occasions where we formally reflect on the rights, responsibilities, privileges and benefits of being a Canadian citizen.

Ceremonies like these demonstrate how the government is working to make the citizenship program more efficient and helping more people realize their dream of becoming Canadian sooner. Recent changes to the Citizenship Act, which received Royal Assent on June 19, 2014, are already improving the efficiency of the citizenship program.

More than 200,000 new Canadians have been welcomed across Canada so far in 2014-more than double the number of new citizens compared to the same time period in 2013. With the new streamlined decision-making process and other changes to the Citizenship Act, the government is on track to bring the processing time for citizenship applications down to under one year and reduce the citizenship application backlog by more than 80 percent by 2015-2016
