That all depends on your local office, and such.

That said, if you were called to take the test during that time, are you in such a rush to get your citizenship that you couldn't wait a month or two longer and delay the test date?

Local office was reported as Mississauga, although as I mentioned it hasn't reached there yet. Once it's received there - how quickly is the turnaround typically to a test date and the oath, assuming regular processing?
I want my application to go as smoothly as possible, so wouldn't want to get RQ'ed because I had to delay my test date over vacation...

Well if you want to put life on hold waiting for CIC... feel free. :)

The turnaround can be anywhere from about two weeks (SenoritaBella) to 18 months or longer...

Hi May Applicants,

Quick question - on Nov 1, my partner and I will be living together for one year, thereby becoming common-law. Do I have to update CIC with this information? If so, what's the best way to do it (call centre, sending them a letter, emailing them?)

Hi May 2014 Friends,

I called CIC the other day and asked about the status of my application. ( May 1st sent, received May 5th, in process July 28th). They say that still it is in Sydney. The agent said I should be mindful of the 24 months processing time. He is not that helpful in providing the update.

After looking into Jan to April 2014 applicants, things seem to move faster.... Isn't it?

Are both of you applying for citizenship, or just one?

Only I'm applying for citizenship; he's a perm resident.

So it doesn't really affect your application, I don't think. Probably not worth bothering them with... especially because I think you still need to complete some sort of "statutory declaration of common-law relationship" to have it officially recognized...

HI Guys,

I checked my CIC this morning and the received line disappeared!

So then it went to Mississauga (well the agent told me last week it would go there most likely) so keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope I get called for test before December.

HI, we have the same timeline. Keep checking your CIC. My received line disappeared today.

Thanks for the information. Good luck Honeybird2.

Still My received line is there in Ecas. I will keep checking though the disappearance will not actually tell what is happening (according to several posts in this forum). May be just a clue somebody is working on our file.

you are right....disappearing line mean that your application/file is been assigned to an agent.....which will follow by your back ground checked.

Hey HoneyBird2,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is not so. My received line disappeared a couple of weeks ago now. I called CIC 2 days ago and my app was still in Sydney. The agent told me it can be days, weeks or months before it gets transferred to the local office. There is no evidence, unless some members noted when their received line disappeared and ordered ATIP reports afterwards and cross-referenced the activity on their files, to suggest that a disappearing received line means a local office transfer. I think it might be a data entry process that might have been done on a file in Sydney or an agent might have picked it up, but even that is speculation on my end. You would have to have an X number of applicants with disappearing lines, with an X number of ATIP reports and have proof of a consistently cross-referenced action taken on those files to have any certainty as to what actually happens behind the scenes.

Hi, received line disappeared for me today.

Good luck to all.
