I find it absolutely amazing that CIC hasn't gone through a few call logs to realize that some basic improvements in the eCAS would go a long way towards reducing their call centre volumes.rm34 said:Called CIC and was told that my file is in Scarborough. Said takes 24 months to process so you are wasting your time calling us now. I said some people got theirs in 6 months, to which the agent replied it takes 48 months for some.
These people should get some training on customer service IMHO

We should not be calling e-cas and put an extra strain on the system. Unless the overall process's taken more than 8-10 months or so I'd say it is worth a call.
Call center is only there for making inquiries about your application. I do not think that calling them would have an affect on the processing time of the application. The point I am trying to make is that the CIC agents should be better trained on content and customer service.sanacast said:Hi

100% agree with SenoritaBella on this. Transparency is critical, it builds trust, increases the candidates' patience and keeps everyone informed and comfortable. The counter-argument might be is that it would lead to people questioning why their now detailed timeline is different than that other guy who applied at the same time, etc... I believe that this argument is naive and invalid, it's not as if people dont share their application timelines on this forum. We are well aware that cases are processed in different timelines even if they were identical (not saying that that's the way it should be, it's just the way it currently is).SenoritaBella said:We are paying taxes for those services and should call it whenever we need an update. I agree that calling everyday is not necessary but I believe monthly is ok. Perhaps if they actually update the online system and make the process a little more transparent, it will help a lot.
The worst part is that those who got it after 24 months or even 40 months, would feel that they have less obligation to the country than those who got it in 6 months.brbr said:100% agree with SenoritaBella on this. I dunno if this statement: "The worst part is that those who got it after 24 months or even 40 months, would feel that they have less obligation to the country than those who got it in 6 months.", is true BLT. I mean it might be, but it would be sad if it was... lol I'm sure they'd be pissed off by CIC for waiting so long, not quite sure if that would make them love the city, people and work they do less though, they might just hate on government policy for a few years and move onBLT said:The worst part is that those who got it after 24 months or even 40 months, would feel that they have less obligation to the country than those who got it in 6 months.
IMO, I agree that CIC shouldn't process the application like fast food restaurant : first come first served, because every application is unique on it's own, but the gap shouldn't be that long, like 6 months compared to 36 months. It won't take 30 months to review an application. CRA could review your business invoices and transactions plus secrets (much more complicated) in just few weeks. Maybe if CRA is processing the citizenship application, the processing time would be comparable to Australia : 3 months maximum. ;D
I disagree, actually.BLT said:The worst part is that those who got it after 24 months or even 40 months, would feel that they have less obligation to the country than those who got it in 6 months.

That should never happen.Blackbook said:how would you feel when you apply and wait for 48 months and were asked to reapply because file is not clear?
