Biometrics completed: August 22, 2024.

Still no AOR or anything :-/
It keeps getting weirder: today I received the Pre-arrival letter - and still no AOR, which means I still can't apply for OWP nor health coverage.

So my (strange) timeline is:
Applied: May 17, 2024
Biometrics invitation: August 21
Biometrics completed: August 22
Pre-Arrival letter: October 26

In your experience, does the pre-arrival letter mean anything substantial?

As far as I know, you have waited too long for the AOR. You have the application number you should be able to call them and ask for the AOR or raise a webform asking for a copy of the AOR so you can apply for OWP.

This is just my opinion and not legal advice. Please don't consider it as such.

You can't apply for health coverage in Ontario with an AOR.

You need an AIP for OHIP.

Hey guys,

I sent my PFL reply. Below is my timeline. I am unable to understand what is this happening

9th july - Received PFL to submit proof that I belong to in- Canada class as my husband forgot to change his marital status after marriage (landed single in Canada) and officer mentioned that my husband can not sponsor me.

16th July - We responded to PFL

But on *10th July* itself my husband (sponsor) received a mail that he has met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor.

And on 29th July my file was transferred to Etobicoke for further assessment.

Why they sent the APR saying he met the requirements, when they mentioned earlier that he did not? Is this normal?
This is certainly not something I am an expert on, but I suspect this means your husband may be eligible to sponsor in general, but not to sponsor *you*.

Pre-arrival is essentially meaningless for inland applications, except it usually comes when your eligibility check has been completed. Please update us when you receive AIP.

We received AIP today…

“It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence
as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. “
Are you sure that's the AIP?

Update: Okay I got answer to my question myself. From official Glossary:
Approved in principle / Approval in principle (AIP)
Your application is “approved in principle (AIP)” if:
  • you have received a letter from IRCC stating that you meet the permanent residence eligibility requirements, but
  • you still have to pass the medical, security and background checks for you and, if needed, your family members.
