Hi,

I just received correspondence from IRCC regarding my citizenship application which was sent on 29 May and received by IRCC on 8th June.
I am still unsure if others also received similar email ( AOR).

According to the email below its still unclear whether IRCC has accepted my application including supporting docs for further processing as the content of the email is still vague.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is to acknowledge receipt of your application for Canadian Citizenship. We will review your application and supporting documents and will contact you if additional information is required.

All citizenship applicants between 18 and 54 years of age on the date they sign their application must meet language and knowledge requirements to become a Canadian citizen. If this includes you, you will need to:
• Demonstrate competence in basic communication in English or French.
• Pass a written or if necessary, an oral test on your knowledge of Canada and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

The knowledge test is based on the information provided in the official citizenship study guide. It is 20 multiple choice questions and you must get at least 15 correct to pass.
• The study guide is available on the IRCC website at: On the same page, you will find more information on how to prepare for the test.
• If you are receiving this letter by regular mail, a print version of the study guide is enclosed.

When your application has been reviewed and has met basic eligibility, IRCC will send you correspondence to invite you to a knowledge test. It could take a few months before you hear from us."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those who already got AOR, please advise if they got similar email or not?

Hi Guys, Would AOR include all the names of the family members on the receipt? I mean does it include the names of the applicants also or just a receipt of the application.

Thanks. I hope you will receive yours soon as IRCSS is working efficiently now a days on backlog files.

Based on AOR, shall I assume that IRCC has accepted my application and supporting documents and will process for next step?

Thank you so much. I was just thinking that I missed a file for one of the family member while posting together. So I should wait for the AOR and it will show whether I missed or not. AOR will only come by email?

Yes if the application is accepted by IRCC, they will send AOR on email.
If application is incomplete/refused, then IRCC will send entire package by post.

I believe that AOR means your documents are complete and ready to be processed. It gives a peace of mind that they won’t return it. Although, if they want more documents, they may still ask for it.
If you don’t mind my asking, did you use the PO box address or the street address when you sent in your application?

I have not received my AOR yet.

Sent the application on May 5th, CIC has received it on May 8th.
Hi, if you don’t mind my asking, did you use the PO box address or the street address? I used the PO box address and basically in the same boat as you.

As far as I remember, I used proper address rather than PO Box.

I don’t think there’s much you can do until they give you an AOR, then you’ll have a case number and would be able to search for its status.
