Hi folks. I Just wanted to share my experience with you. See my timeline below.



Location: Brampton

Physical presence days: 1680

Application type: Family; two adults and one kid

Application sent: April 26th 2020

Application received: May 1st 2020

AOR: September 8th 2020

In progress: February 17th 2021

July 4th 2021: I sent a webform requesting an update

Test invitation: July 28th 2021 from Mississauga office

Test date: August 6th 2021

Test marked completed: August 8th 2021

February 8th 2022: I sent a webform requesting an update

Background completed: February 15th 2022

Language, Prohibitions, physical presence: April 26th 2022. Decision made on Ecas

May 26th 2022: Contacted my MP for help

Interview Request: May 30th 2022 from Scarborough Office

Interview in Person: June 16th 2022 Scarborough Office

June the 20th: I sent a request for an early oath ceremony to Scarborough Office because I’m going away for a month.

June 21st, 2022: Scarborough Office replied to my email saying that Mississauga Office is the office in charge of my file. Don’t know why I got the interview with Scarborough office!



My advice, keep sending emails if you think that your file/application is not being assessed fairly.

May 2020 Ottawa applicant here. Just a mini update - I took my test in Oct 2021 and have been waiting for the oath since. I wrote to the Ottawa email for IRCC and got a reply that they passed the email to the oath team and I should here back within 4 weeks. - I will keep everyone posted.

I hit the 2 years mark on May 18th.

Citizenship test: Completed
Background verification: Completed
Prohibitions: In progress

When I requested GCMS notes, it showed that everything that is In Progress is actually "Not Started"

Same here. I was so surprised when I saw that. The deadline had passed a long time ago with several things "not started"

Still waiting on oath here. Emailed Ottawa office and no reply yet. Nice to see even once you finally get citizenship the fun doesn’t end - people around here are camping out overnight at the passport office to get a passport.

I think getting the passport has been worse than the citizenship process if I’m honest.

Sent an email to attorney last week to look into some possible legal action. Waiting to hear what she say.

Hello everyone! I have had no luck with getting a hold of anyone at CIC about my application. Its been over 2 years and nothing on my account. I have requested multiple GCMS and webforms. I have also emailed my MP and no response, i sent a friendly reminder as well.

I have tried calling IRCC for the last 2 weeks with no luck. I keep getting told they have a high volume of calls and they hang up on me. I got my husband and my best friend to try as well. I do not know what else to do. I just want to cry because this isn't the first time things like this have happened to me.

what else can i do? who else can i contact? there was one day in Jan i got a hold of someone in ircc and they told me by May i will have my citizenship, but since then i have had no luck getting a hold of a person. I am falling apart....

I totally understand your frustration. Unfortunately there is not much we can do .
If I was you, I rather leave it for a while cause it is just not helping but makes you not to enjoy your life.
Be patient my friend...Eventually you will get it...
