@legalfalcon @caipsnotes

Have a few general questions, appreciate if you could answer

Is there a specific reason as to why PNP applicants are getting PPRs at large wheres express entry applicants are issued with a fewer PPRs.

As PPR's are being issued, does that mean the travel restrictions will be exempted in the next 2-3 months for people applying through permanent residency.

I am May 2020 AOR, express entry applicant through FSW and when I asked my consultant whether there is a chance that i could get the PPR by around november or december, she said that won't happen and it will get delayed further than that..

So I am just confused and wondering whether there is hope in the next few months..
Best to follow the official IRCC website, other than that what's going to happen next is up for anyone to speculate.

Hello @legalfalcon

I got the below response for a webform that I raised on October 8th inquiring about the status of my application.
  • Your application currently meets the eligibility requirements under the immigration program for which you have applied.
  • The security background verification has not been initiated.
  • The criminal background verification has not been initiated.
In your experience, does this mean that my eligibility is passed ? I have also requested my 2nd set of GCMS notes and currently awaiting them. but I just need to know if there's anything to worry about at this point ? AOR is May 16th, FSW-O.

Many thanks in advance !
Based on this web form response your Eligibility is likely Passed by an agent or an analyst as only after an officer reviews it will security verification be initiated. So nothing to worry about at this point. More about web form responses here

The webforms responses are always ambiguous. However, the good thing is that your webform response states that "application currently meets the eligibility requirements under the immigration program for which you have applied." This would indicate that your eligibility has been marked recommended passed by a analyst or assistant.

The eligibility happens in 2 stages to read more on this, see my previous post at #2,521

After the eligibility is passed, the security is initiated, which usually is the last stage of an application. To read on the security see https://bit.ly/3m7u0sh

As regards the criminality, it is usually done early in the process along with R10. However, if your biometrics is pending, or a PCC is pending (especially if your are an inland applicant and yet to submit the RCMP PCC), the criminality will continue to be in process.

To read generally on webform responses and how to decipher them, see https://bit.ly/34fxd2F

1. Pre COVID, IRCC would send the COPR by postal mail. Inland applicants had to either schedule an appointment at an inland IRCC office or visit the where the COPR would be stamped and validated. It would be as of the date of stamping that an applicant would become a PR. However, this has changed and now inland applicants receive the COPR by email and it is already validated, i.e. as soon as you get the COPR, you are in effect a PR as on the date of that email. If you are an outland applicant, you will get the PR, but it will be validated when you land in Canada and are admitted and the date will be entered on your COPR.

2. Are your form a visa exempt country? If you are then you won't need a PR visa. If you are not form a visa exempt country, you can still enter Canada via the land US border with your COPR and you won't need a PR visa. After you get your PRV validated, you will get your PR card in a few weeks and you can then use that when you travel between US - Canada.
Hello @legalfalcon

I'm CEC Inland, AOR is 06 May 2020 and biometric-exempt. My biometric was marked as completed yesterday. I'm not from a visa exempt country.

1) Can you please advise what will be the next course of action?
2) Will I be getting PPR and COPR, or, will it be COPR only?
3) As I understand from your post above, will this COPR be validated already when we receive it in e-mail and I will be considered as a PR holder the same day of receiving it?
4) Is there any timeline when I can expect the PPR or COPR after biometrics is completed?

However, my online application shows that my eligibility and background check is still in progress.

Appreciate your time and help!

Thank you.

Hi @legalfalcon

I just received my GCMS notes and wanted to ask you a quick question. The last two notes on my files are as follows:

2020/08/26 - ***OFFICER REVIEW*** File reviewed. Eligibility passed. Integrated search completed - no adverse info found. Biometrics - RCMP pending.

2020/09/21 - ***OFFICER REVIEW*** File reviewed. Eligibility passed. Integrated search completed - no adverse info found - Criminality Pending

I am bio exempt and I wasn't asked for RCMP. Notice how they removed "RCMP and Biometrics" from the notes. Does this mean I don't need to give RCMP now? Also does this mean the only thing left is criminality to be completed now?

My status is on my signature.

Thank you so much

Hi
Is your Security PASSED?
According to the status - not it has not. But the note from officer seems to imply that the only thing remaining is criminality. If they need the RCMP from me which was determined two months ago, I don't know why they're not asking for it.

1. If you are an inland application as per the most recent protocol the COPR is sent by email. However, lately IRCC is experimenting with a new portal. Not sure yet if it will be implemented for inland applicants too.

2. If you are inland, you will only get COPR.

3. Yes, currently the COPR is validated and you become a PR as on the date you receive it.

4. There is no timeline as such as it varies form application to application.

IRCC can ask for any document until the application is approved. You will have to wait and see.

Your eligibility is passed and most likely your security should be in progress.

To get more info about security you can request your information from CBSA, and since you are inland you can so for free

I saw some others not being asked for rcmp as well (I was though). Is your exempt bio updated as completed in your gckey? If yes, when? Thanks.
