I'm in the exact same situation. Every time I ask they say everything is fine just wait. I received my AOR on July 29 and applied May 29 2019.

I am in the exact same boat except I applied in April. When was your background check completed? and may I ask if you think your application is nonroutine or if there's any specific reason your application is taking this long like mine?

My background check was completed on September 25 2019. I was scheduled in error for a test in December 2019 but when I call they say that there are notes on my file saying it was an error and it was removed. I have no idea why it would be non routine tbh everything is pretty normal to me which is what they say every time I call as well. Do you think yours is non routine?

Did you travel a lot during eligibility period? and also how do you know it is non-routine? Did they tell you (or) did you find it through GCMS notes?

It does not say it is non routine and there is nothing on my file that says it is non routine so I am assuming that it is routine. Apologies if that wasn’t clear. I didn’t travel a lot probably 4 weeks total time away from Canada within those years.

This is really strange. what have they been doing for 2 full years. For me, they kept saying my background check is taking long. Why would they keep you waiting for 2 years after your BG is complete?

I don't know if my application is routine or not. I just asked my MP to call them and they reached out to me and said it's my background check and BG check for nonroutine applications could take longer. They didn't explicitly say if my app was nonroutine so I don't exactly know if mine is nonroutine or not. There is no indication in my GCMS note that it's nonroutine either. In any case, I was under the impression that the application being routine or nonroutine affects the background check. So, why have they kept you waiting for two years after your BG check is beyond me.

I traveled once a year for a month to visit family. everything else for me is straightforward. My last name is unique and I don't think they have anyone else with my last name. I just hope they don't keep us waiting for long. This really sucks.

It’s very strange to me as well. I also contacted my MP and the response he got was everything is completed they are just waiting on a test date. I really don’t understand why they’re taking so long if everything is fine. It seems like they just pick random files to complete and ours are just sitting in the corner collecting dust just waiting for that one agent to pick it up lol. It’s definitely not in any order. I feel your frustration every single day trust me. I’ve waited for 2 years I guess we just have to keep waiting.

I am also waiting since Nov-2019. Nothing mentioned in my GCMS notes, also.

Since your background check got completed just last month, it will move to next stage in the next few months, not fast(as usual since its based on the officer/office)
