I don't think it will take two months or even a month to transfer. I got SA June27 and on the applicant side (ecas) it says "started processing" by July6.
HOPEFULLY NOT. ??? ??? :(

May 13th Applicant here

The good news is by phoning at 8am local time I was able to get through without any wait, after choosing the correct selections.

And that's the end of the good news.

I'm over 56 days, at 60 days now by my count and there is no result for me on Part 1.

The agent on the phone will send an enquiry regarding my file. :-[ :'( ::)

Hi All,

I have a confusion regarding the approach required to be followed for checking the application processing time over cic website

My concern is, We need to select/answer 3 questions inorder to check the processing time i.e.:

1. What are you applying for ?
Sponsoring a family member

2. Who are you sponsoring ?
Spouse or common-law partner living outside Canada (In my case)

3. Where are you applying from ? (This one confuses me)
According to me it should be Canada. As, I filed application from Canada sent to Mississauga and I know the VO might be outside where it gets forwarded by CPC-Mississauga but per the question I am applying from Canada. This gives a different estimated time

Any thoughts...??

you are applying outland. you are sponsoring a person living outside of canada. therefore, you need to pick the country of citizenship the principal applicant is from. even though the applications start in Mississauga, the PA's application will be forwarded to a visa office ABROAD for processing. you would only choose canada if you were applying inland.

Note: the times posted on the website for outland applications are NOT averages, and are not recommended to be used to determine how long your applicaiton will take. The times posted represent 80% of applications being processed WITHIN That time, meaning a majority are processed in less time. to get an accurate picture of how long processing is through a specific visa office, find the thread for that office and look at the trend of applicants on this forum.

Well - In a case of Inland application you never get triggered to the 3rd question. You only get triggered to the 3rd question when one selects outland in 2nd question and as matter of fact it is outland application why would they provide an option of Canada for question #3...??

May -17 appication
haven't received SA yet. Anyone in the same boat. I have passed Day 57th since application. Called CIC today, agent on the phone told me to be patient and call back in another week to check the status.

The answer to the third question is the country where your spouse is resident, or where their passport is from. If they're not living in the country their passport is from I don't know which is the correct answer. But if it's straight forward and they're living in the country where they are a citizen, that is the country you put into the 3rd question.

I know it can be confusing because they don't clearly differentiate between the sponsor and the applicant in the way they word these 3 questions. But the correct answer is the foreign country, not Canada, because the result you will obtain will show you the average waiting time for Part 1 AND the average waiting time for Part 2, the applicant's part of the application. The wait times for the applicant's part of the application is country specific and varies widely from country to country, so you want to get the correct answer for the right country.

Exactly - they need to make it more clear but anyways there are lot of other things they need to work upon

Hey Guys,

I was passing by some TV channels then I saw the Immigration Minister on Omni Tv where he stated: 2 years it is a long period for couples to wait in order to reunite. He stated that they are working on IMPLEMENTING a new system which will reduce the processing time. Won't give more details until the system is completed.

this is a part from a Plan presentation in the CIC site:

Expected Results Performance Indicators Targets Date to be Achieved
Spouses, partners, and children are reunited with their sponsor in Canada Number of admissions of spouses, partners and children 45,000–48,000 End of each calendar year
Reunification applications for immediate family members are processed within published service standards Percentage adherence to the 12-month service standard for cases processed overseas.

Thank you

As per CIC website, yes, IRCC has resumed using Canada Post mail services. Effective July 11, 2016, the special measures below are no longer in effect.

Canada Post didn't stop working. The planned strike was delayed while further negotiations are attempted.
