just wanted to share..finally got my passport today with visa stamp and COPR :)

God Bless to all...you'll get yours too :)

Hi scoobydoo33,

I have been checking out the posts on this forum to get an idea on how much time it takes for Abu Dhabi VO to process a sponsorship application and I came across your post. The average processing time as per CIC is 18 months though your application was processed in 7 months. Do you know anybody else who has gotten the visa from ADVO in a lesser time frame than 18 months? They very thought of waiting for 18 more months to join my husband makes me paranoid!!

P.S. Congrats on getting the visa!!

I'm happy to report that my ECAS status just changed to "Decision Made"! (With the added note: "A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.")

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive that contact? And is it usually a paper letter or an email?

Thanks! They don't actually have my passport; I sent a scanned copy. So I assume that means they'll just send the visa. That's fantastic!

I am from the US so no VISA needed but it did change on the website "Decision Made" which I am pretty excited about.. in the application that was orig sent I sent the scanned copy of my passport but I wonder if I will need to send in my actual passport before I walk over that bridge! I am still waiting on my paperwork to say what the decision was but I have no doubt I am a good to go on PR…… I am sure LOTS on this May thread will be in the same boat is me walking that bridge very soon now!!!

Congratulations! How long ago did the website change to "Decision Made" for you?

I see a lot of people here have had their passport requested, what is this? I sent a copy with my paperwork so is this where they request your actual passport to be sent in? Would this be requested before a decision has been made? - I found on the cic website a decision has been made but I haven't gotten the letter yet in the mail and there has been no request for passport so I was just checking with anyone to see if they had a similar experience.

Hi SadieRoo...

The Visa Office recently sent us an email to asking us confirm that the sponsoree's passport is ABCD1234. A the photocopy of the same passport that we sent with the CIC application. So I guess in some cases, CIC doesn't request the passport at all.

We confirmed our passport details a week ago and nothing yet.

My understanding of the process is that you send a copy of the passport with application. As the application is processed, requests may be made. For us, (I am sponsoring my spouse from Philippines) we sent our application April 2013. On the CIC website under "Check Application Status" it says under heading "For Sponsored Person", "We received your application to sponsor ...... on May 30, 2013." "We sent you a letter on July 4, 2013 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us." The letter was received by email saying," You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing." Now on the "Permanent Residence" section of the CIC site it states, for my spouse," "Application Received". Under that heading it states, " Application received May 30,2013. " and "Medical received". So I wish it would say "In Process", but it doesn't. I am assuming eventually we will see the heading change to "In Process". Also, assuming they will eventually request the original passport in the Manila office so it can be stamped with PR stamp. I don't think they will request her passport until her application has been approved. Hope this helps. Look forward to responses.

If you are visa exempt they have no need for your passport, because you don't need to have a visa stamped in it. That's why some applicants need to send in the original passports when their visa is issued.

In your case, the VO is just confirming that the applicant didn't change their travel document since the file was sent in.

Hi Betina,

The passport is from a visa-exempt country. So I guess this *is* the "Passport Request" phase. :D

I should be getting something in the mail then! :)

Excellent news! My COPR arrived yesterday! I'm so happy, and I hope this means there'll be more movement soon for the rest of you who are waiting.

Now we just have to plan a time to move me and my belongings up across the border--a whole new process to research!

Could someone please update the spreadsheet for me? Thanks!

20% of all the PR applications through Family Class are processed by Abu Dhabi in less than 6 months.
50% of all the PR applications through Family Class are processed by Abu Dhabi in less than 10 months.
80% of all the PR applications through Family Class are processed by Abu Dhabi in less than 19 months.

This are official statistics.

Good luck!

I hope my application will be part of the 20% cases. Any idea how they categorize the applications?

Pardon my question But 19 months is way too long! :o
