I've googled and googled but when landing do we have to prove that we have certain amount of funds to support myself and my family?

I dont think so. You just have to give proof in case you are carrying cash more than 10K.

yes you need a proof of funds even for CEC, at least i was asked to at prescott bridge.....such an unfriendly agent i had.

That's not true, there's no such requirement under the CEC. An officer can ask for it, but as per CIC it is not required.

well, if an officer has the right to ask for it, then it's almost a requirement because you can't leave it at chance and not take any proof with you only to be unlucky like me and the officer asks for it.
i told him i had contacted CIC and they told me it wasn't necessary since i LIVE here and have expenses, but he wouldnt have it.
so please be safe and just take a proof with you

Should I be worried that there has been no status update since April 19th to my application? They acknowledged that they received my medical results then. I am from the USA if that matters and my current work permit does not expire until the end of November.

When you say you had to show proof, was this proof that you had under $10K OR that you had enough funds to support yourself (and family)? Thanks

Under CEC you dont have to show proofs for taking care of your family. In case you are carrying cash more than 10K CAD, then you have to show the proof.
