No, you are not alone. This is affecting many people, but not ALL. No worries!

So I'm starting to freak out a bit........ January 15th my husband was sent a request for his passport copy and a new medical. We mailed it promptly a week later. At that time I kept checking the status update as it still said "Application received" which has been the same for 8 months. Now for the last few days, it doesn't even let me in............ My UCI, my file number, my receipt.... nothing works!!! Not sure what is going on. Could this be bad news?? And who do I contact to ease my fears?

Lot's of people have been complaining about the same problem. I think it's just a technical issue.

They want a copy of the photo page which I sent with my application.......... I'm happy that I know now FINALLY they are woking on mine but We've been waiting for more than 8 months and still have to wait a few more weeks especially some people just get COPR without PPR:( :( :(

Oh well, we just need to deal with this anyway.

That is not PPR. PPR is when you have to mail your passport to them. The actual passport.

If it's just a copy they want, maybe they lost that in your file. Or, perhaps it was not legible.

You should be able to email that promptly and if I were you, I wouldn't be worried about a thing. It looks like they're on your case and you should hear good news soon.

Hi friends,

I landed on Tuesday (Feb. 05) and just wanted to share my experience!

Since I was already in Canada as a visitor and we don't live far from the border, we (my Canadian husband = sponsor) made a day trip to the USA. Told the US border officer that I will be landing in Canada as a PR when we're coming back in the evening.

When we arrived back at the border that evening, we told the Canadian border officer that I will be landing as a PR, he asked if I had my documents (I came prepared with a lot of documents, just in case ;) ) and if I brought goods with me or if there were goods following, and told us to park and go into the building. Since it was a Tuesday evening, 8:30 pm, it was completely empty in there. I gave the immigration officer my passport, COPR and he also wanted my previous and current visitor records. (He asked if I wanted a copy of the visitor records and my Working Holiday Visa that was still attached to my passport since he would have to keep those documents.) He asked if the information on the COPR is correct and asked us to sit down and wait a few minutes. He stamped my passport and attached the COPR (after I signed it) to my passport. He also asked my husband if he is my sponsor. He then told me about getting my SIN and applying for my health card and reminded my husband about the undertaking/sponsorship. And just like that, he handed me my passport and we were done!! ;D I think the whole process took less than 10 minutes.

The landing was done at Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls).

Yesterday I went to get my SIN and apply for my health card, and since it was early morning it took no time at all! (SIN 5 min and OHIP 10 min). Also, some banks (Scotiabank for example) have newcomer programs that will give you a bank account free of fees for one year and a credit card as well.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!!!

If anyone has any questions, feel free to send me a PM - I'd be happy to help!

No, visa exempt countries don't get PPR. They have the information you originally sent with your application which includes your passport copy. However, it's not completely strange for someone from a visa exempt country get ppr. I've seen it happen before. It's a good thing. That means they're working on your application and I wouldn't worry about it.

As far as I know everyone I know personally going through the process are Americans and all of them have received PPR. Even though we all sent a copy with our applications, they still requested another copy with a letter of what are intentions were once we've landed in Canada. It's nothing to worry about at all, It's completely normal.

Congratulations!

To cross the border, did you need to apply for an american travel visa online?

This is from the US CBP website's Q&A:
https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1094/session/L3NpZC9tWnh2emhpbA%3D%3D

Q: I am a citizen of a VWP country and am visiting the U.S. from Canada or Mexico?
A: If you are coming by land, you do not need to have ESTA authorization

Therefore, Franzi as a German citizen should not have to have asked for prior authorization to enter the US when crossing the US-Canada border.

Thank you bonitanita!! :)

No, we just arrived at the US border, told them that we wanted to spend a day in the US and that I would land as a PR in Canada upon return. Then I had to go into the building, give my fingerprints and pay $6 for the visa waiver which is valid for 90 days.

Thanks guys. If the weather stays on our side, I should be doing this next Thursday or Friday! It'll all be over then!
