Another day of nothing?? :(

I am planning on going out to Canada for 2 months, looking at flights that leave on the 29th, if I don't have our sponsor approval by then will I have a hard time at the border?

Possibly not. Just have your paperwork and tell them you're coming to visit your spouse/partner for x amount of time (don't mention intentions of staying beyond a certain amount of time... or waiting out your application).. just specify you want to spend some time with them while you're waiting through the process (show the proof of the process, receipts of fees paid so they know you're serious), and provide bank statements of how you can support yourself while there (and if possible a return ticket) and you should be fine.

Good luck!

Here is a copy of the email I just sent to my MP:

Mr Toet.

While I do appreciate your letter of July 31st I would like to further update you on my situation with CIC.

Contrary to your time limit of 91 days and the posted time line of 86 days my application has now been 96 days and still I have not received any reply from CIC. I have called them twice over the last 2 weeks and have received varying answers to the same questions. Most importantly was the question of processing the application based on receipt. While being assured that applications are reveiwed as they are received the facts would speak to this as a lie.
I belong to an online immigration forum where people in the process exchange their experience and details as to when they sent in their applications and in what times they were processed. Here you can see where June applications have received their first stage receipt and or sponsorship approvals by the end of July. One applicant's paperwork was received by the end of May and had been approved the next week while some like myself have waited patiently only to be treated with contempt.

There is obviously a bias within CIC as to how and who they process and in what order. I will request of you to personally get involved in my case and have my application expedited. I would also make the request to find out why this type of corrupt process exists under a Conservative government. I thought you were the guys who were supposed to fix these things?

Respectfully,

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Nice!!! :)

I will post whatever response that I get. Failing that I have no problem feeding it to a liberal media that love to make life difficult for the Conservative party.
Our elected officials work for us. We do not work for them. Never forget that.

IMO, CIC certainly has a bias in Stage 1.

What's even more troubling is that CIC has preferential treatment for any applicants going through New Delhi office because there is no way that other offices have such a backlog as ND does. Majority of immigrants in the past few years came from India and the question is how do they land in Canada before some people even get their Stage 1 AOR's even though the person going through ND submitted their application a month later? For instance, not a single PPR has been issued through Vienna office SINCE APRIL (this forum is a living proof); on the other hand, ND applicants get their PPR's in 2 weeks on average!!!!!!!! Vienna has nothing on their plate compared to New Delhi. Something is just not right.

I know you must be frustrated, 96 days IS unacceptable, just to receive a receipt that your application was received.
New Delhi offices process 2nd stage a lot faster, sure - but that is stage 2- Stage 1 appears random and in batches.
I hope you get a positive response - I just think going as far as to label the system as 'corrupt' might not necessarily get the response you are after- but wish you all the best.

"Corrupt" might be a harsh term and very un-PC, but something is definitely going on. We are talking about people's lives here, this is not a rocket science, at least Stage 1 is quite simple and straight-forward. The most frustrating part is a lack of communication by CIC and uncertainty that people are facing while their lives come to a screeching halt. There is no excuse for this kind of approach to the applications - and the fact that there is a HUGE discrepancy in Stage 2 between VO's points out the fact that there is a bias.

Any system that shows preferential treatment by definition is corrupt. Any agency that operates a policy of misinformation is corrupt at worst; incompetent at best.
I'm not a "new" Canadian. I'm 7th generation Canadian. My lineage is woven into the history that built this nation. Every generation has served in times of war and peace; times of effort and ease. I have an expectation of what being Canadian means and what it also means to account for the services Canadians require. I am no "lap dog" and nor should any else who truly wishes to be Canadian.

Being a PR, 7th generation or 107th generation Canadian makes no difference. We pay taxes and work 6 months for Canadian government every year. Therefore, we do deserve certain level of service and professionalism that unfortunately is lacking when it comes to CIC. I don't have a clue what is going with CIC, but it's obvious that immigration process is broken and it should be revised and fixed ASAP.

On the contrary it makes a huge difference and goes beyond just paying taxes. I have no other country to which I identify or share history with. There is no other benchmark. I certainly do not expect to be treated a second or third class citizen. Please note that July applicants have begun to receive their AOR's. So CIC is broken for some and working quite well for others. This is not Canadian in its execution. Where is the fairness?

I would suggest that all applicants who have been waiting in excess of 86 days contact your MP's. Let them know and get them involved. Otherwise everybody thinks things are as they should be.

It's a good idea to contact our MP's.. I will try to do that. I am 11 days ahead of you, at 105 days and still no 'word' from CIC on my sponsorship approval. But as for your processing it looks like it's right in line with the rest of the May applicants (before May 18th). You should be the next one to get AOR.
