Just an update for everyone. I emailed the Singapore VISA office because I changed my Canadian Cell number but also asked if they had recived my sponsorship package from CPC mississauga becuase I had not seen an update on ECAS since it first passed in the summer.

The email I got is bellow

"Dear Sir,

Thank you for your enquiry to the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore.

This Family Class application was received by our office on 19-Jul-2012 after being forwarded by Case Processing Centre Mississauga. Please note that we do not send an Acknowledgement of Receipt for sponsored spouse, partner, and child applications, given that they are processed very quickly. This application is currently pending initial review, after which we will contact the applicant directly to advise the outcome of the review and any next steps.

We are striving to make our processing of Family Class applications as efficient as possible. We continue to meet our commitment to a service standard of 6 months to finalization for at least 80% of cases for sponsored spouses, partners, and children. Processing times are calculated from the date the application is approved by Case Processing Centre Mississauga, after which it is sent to the visa office for further processing. For individual cases, actual processing times may vary depending on the complexity of the application and the number of new applications received by the visa office.

Applicants can check the status of their case on the CIC website by clicking on Client Application Status. For actual processing times of permanent resident applications in Singapore for the last 12 months, please click here. Applicants may also refer to our website, www.singapore.gc.ca, for more information about processing times.

We hope this information will be of assistance.

Sincerely,

Immigration Section | Section d'immigration
High Commission of Canada
Singapore | Singapour "

So it seems my application is going pretty much according to the standard timelines. The case was approved at CPC missisauga July 10 and the package was sent and arrived in Singapore office 19 July. From that date if I follow the 80% rule, my wife should be approved by January or Febuary. Still a long time to be away from her but at least I have a rough idea of expected timelines.

Once again I'm sure YMMV depending on the situation however given we both have never been married, she doesn't have anything job or connection wise that would raise a 'red flag' and I work in a federal government department I'd say our chances of meeting the 6 month average is pretty good.

Hope others are getting some good news as well.

Hi RCVmini: Much thanks for sharing the letter from Singapore VO. Long time we don't see you here writing in the forum. Anyway, Its always nice to hear from VOs. Good that you heard back from them. By the way, I want to change my address. Do I send "Case Specific Inquiry" or just an email? What did you do, RCVmini? Please share.

Thanks for sharing your communication with the VO. I hope you will hear good news very soon.

Question: Singapore's announced 80% time is 23 months (based on CIC's website) While I am really glad they are trying to process the cases faster, but I can't help to wonder then why they announce 23 months instead of 6 on the website?
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp#asia

Best wishes for a speedy processing for us all :)

Hi, our case is about the same as yours. Canadian citizen is sponsor but he left Canada at age 3 when he was adopted by an American couple and has never lived in Canada as an adult. Sposorship was approved but we are now wondering if we will have the same issue.

I believe the "process time" agiven by a VO is the maximum time a case can take in their VO.
But every VO handles cases of people with different nationalities.
For example Rome's VO gives 14 months. Someone from Greece or Italy needs 4-6 months but someone from Albania needs 10-14 months. As you can see they give you as "process time" 14 months as that's the max "process time" in that VO. They can't give "process time" for each nationality.

So, it's not enough to keep an eye on your VO "process time". You have to find cases the same nationality as yours.

A good help are some tracking time sites there are. There you can see process time for each VO and filter the results for the nationality you are interested for.
I don't know if I can post here the address...

If you want I can PM it...

Thanks amfiprion, the link would be great! My husband is from Georgia, which based on CIC's statistics has less than 150 applicants globally. So every bit of information helps!

Our VO increased the 80% processing time in August from 5 to 15 months (yes, they've tripled it), and in all communications they write that their processing time is 15 months. I understand the 80% statistics, it's just that this last post gave me great hope that even in the VOs with very long wait, they are considering the 6 months commitment that CIC quotes on their website for the family class.

Mississauga handles Stage 1 (Sponsor assessment), Ottawa handles Stage 2 for sponsored applicants that live in Canada and the US. US applicants, if interview is required, will be interviewed in the Visa offices in the US that are still open.

Alternatively if you want the most accurate information about every single application processed in the last 12 months. Then the open data site is great. You can download all the statistics and search by every VO and how long each VO is taking. Here is the link if your interested

R151NG5UN, I know about the open data portal, but thanks for mentioning it. I had already included the Ankara specific info from data.gc.ca in our spreadsheet. The problem for Ankara's numbers is that since this March, Ankara received a big chunk of files from the closed Damascus office. Therefore the current numbers won't show the correct timelines.

I received the following email today from VO in Vienna:

Dear ???:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

We require the following documentation in order to continue processing your application:

1. Correct police clearance certificate for Serbia. The certificate you provided was issued by court and is not acceptable for immigration purposes.
2. Your original passport.
Please quote your file number, as it appears in the subject line of this message, in all correspondence with our office.

Did anyone have similar experience? Does this mean that I only have to send the following document and valid passport so that visa can be issued? Thanks...

Does anyone know if the passport will be sent to the applicant's home address? There's a consulate in Serbia but it doesn't have an immigration office.
