Hi!

I've applied to Sydney, NS on May 19th in FSW Category 1 (NOC 3111). My cheque was apparently cashed on June 12th. However, I'm still waiting for a response from them. As you can probably imagine, I'm fairly nervous by now as I'm beginning to fear that I might have missed that one important email with the file number. I've read some postings in this forum, and it seems the average wait time seems to be about 2 months.

Do you think, there is any point in trying to contact them? Has anyone ever received a reply to such an enquiry from CIU Sydney?

Also, I'd love to hear from people out there, who have waited for response for as long as I have or even longer. Just to put my mind at ease.

Thanks,
Majkla

Hi Majkla,

There is something not normal with ur application, recently CIO is sending emails but previously they used to send letters, i'm sure ur letter was lost, u've been waiting for around 5 months which is not normal, if i were u i will contact them in the CIO,

alternative solution is to contact ur local visa office as the CIO used to send ur file electronically ( in case of approval ) to ur local visa office and send u the letter / email to ask u to send ur full applications + supporting document to ur local visa office,

well lets think about it together, we have 2 scenarios :
Scenario A : NS approve ur initial application and they send u a letter but it was lost in way to u, the solution is to contact ur local visa office as they r supposed to be waiting ur full application so for sure they know which applications has been initially approved by NS

Scenario B : NS didn't approve ur initial application and they send u a letter telling u good luck and that they will refund ur fee, the solution is to keep trying to contact NS, if no one is responding to ur emails try to give a call to their call center,

Personnel, i think these r the only 2 possible scenarios as the maximum respond time from NS time i saw was less than 3 months,

Hi,

Hmm, so does anybody know of a official way to contact the CIO in Sydney, NS? All they give you in the application package is their postal address on George Street in Sydney, no email, no phone number, no fax. I've found some contact information for a CIC office in Sydney (http://www.contractscanada.gc.ca/en/ns-e.htm), but it isn't even on the same postal address (though apparently quite close, according to Google Maps). Also, the only CIC call centre, I know of, is the one CIC has on their website and they explicitly instruct you not to call to enquire about a specific case. Probably not surprising really as they have no way to confirm your identity on the phone.
However, I get the impression, enquires are generally not welcome until you get an official file/reference number. I'm therefore not surprised at all about your emails not getting any replies. I guess trying to contact the local visa office is the only way.

I'm still interested to hear from people who had to wait more than 3 months for a response from Sydney.

Actually, I have the same issue. My application has been received to Sydney on 28-jun-2009. Since that date I did not receive and mail or email. Really it is confusing. As I’ve read in this forum that the processing time will take around three month to get a decision about your case. Today, I being waiting for three month and half and there is no response. Anyone have any idea about my case??!!

Please advise me what shall I do?

@RITU80, @solie

Are there any circumstances in your application that might prompt the CIO to do a more thorough background check than they normally would on other applications?

For example, I have changed citizenship once before in my life a couple of years after I got married (from one European country to another European country). Also, my husband already applied last year, after Feb 27th, but before the ministry published the list of the 38 eligible professions for FSW category 1. His application was eventually not recommended for further processing and returned early this year, because his profession isn't on the ministry's list.

I'd love to hear from you, should either of you receive a response from the CIO.

My profession is NOC 3111, RITU80 has stated that he or she is NOC 6241. I've found one person in the "Who filed in Aug 2009" thread, claiming NOC 3111, who has just recently received a response less than 2 months after applying.

Hi RITU80,

Where did you find that number? I googled it and came up with "Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT)". Anyway, seems I've found a way to call CIC's 1-888 number from abroad and I guess I'll try later today.

In your case, if they really have no record of you ever applying, you can just apply again, can't you? Perhaps just write in question 9 of Schedule 1 that you've applied before but where told by a call centre agent that there is no record of your application and you are therefore applying again. Just in case they do find your first application after all and wondering why you've sent another one.
