masters or pg diploma

Hello..
i am planning to do master's in canada.i have done btech in information technology with 76% marks.i have also done 3 years diploma in computer engineering.i want to do masters in computer science or information security.
for this yesterday i visited some consultants in my city(chandigarh,india),they suggest me to go for pg diploma not for masters,they said to me that pg diploma has a better job oppertunitiesas compared to master's.they suggested me to do one year diploma in project management and den master's or two years pg diploma in information security.
pls suggest me what should i go for.i think they suggested me for pg diploma because they get commision from colleges per admission.please help me to choose a right option wchich has good job oppertunities in canada and good quality of study as well,and also suggest me good universities that offers master's in information security or computer science.

University of Manitoba

You can locate many universities and colleges depending on your requirement..However as you have done your B.tech as well as diploma..I would rather suggest you go in for a Master's admission..

You need to prepare for the next intake as all the admissions for good/moderate universities will be closed..Gather as much information as possible and take all the required tests (IELTS and GRE).

You are right..the consultants get anywhere from 10-15% per admission in an SPP college..

However a university degree does not guarantee a job.It all depends on your hard work and networking there..

PGD is good program but Masters have good value, it will give you career rather than job only.

I saw that College applicants rejection rate is higher. Your btech point is good. Try to do masters outside Ontario. It will be cost effective also. after that you can do 1 year PGD course.

Study the websites of Universities to know details about your program and try to select relevant course also.

There are some good consultant's in all countries but there are fraud too. So just research in web to enrich your knowledge on admission and visa process. Don't believe consultants unless you know better.

Hello Guys,

I have 2 doubts in my mind... :-\

1st doubt, I have got admission in Project management in Information technology (PMC) at Seneca@York college.
My reason for worry is, if this is good course or there are chances of getting jobs in same field after completing this course ?

Some of my friends are suggesting not to for management side, while some of them are appreciating the decision .

So I need to know about the chances of getting job and career path for this particular growth.


2nd doubt, This is 1 yr PG course, and so I will be getting 1 yr work permit after study.
If I consider my self at worst case, If I will not get job after 1yr of study and if I apply for another 1 yr course, then is it true that I will be getting 3 year work permit based on 2 years of study??

Kindly help me in detail for this doubts.

I think you will get 2 or 3 yr work permit after 2 yr study but it should be in same field.....Still wait for more opinions.....frequently rules are changing so not so sure about it.
