Marrying my gf outside Canada

Good day,

I'm a Canadian citizen (born and living outside Canada) and intend to marry my gf outside Canada (civil marriage).

There are requirements for civil marriage.

Should I obtain a Statutory Declaration from the Canadian Embassy here? Or secure documents pertaining to my native citizenship? Or should I secure BOTH? I'm currently a dual citizen, and I plan to sponsor her to Canada after I land there.

Any suggestions in my case? Thank you.

Since you are already Canadian, you don't need to land. Instead, once you are married, you can just send the required document to CIC to sponsor your wife.

Read the instructions carefully. For example if the website doesn't say you need to obtain a statutory declaration from the embassy, then you don't need to obtain one.

yeah sorry about the term "land" newbie here lol just learned what it meant a while ago

anyway, I'm actually worried about what will be printed on our Marriage Certificate, it includes nationality, really don't know which citizenship should I declare since the marriage will be outside Canada.

though I checked the Sponsorship Document checklist (country specific: Philippines) it just stated Marriage Certificate.

I'm concerned that if my citizenship printed on the Marriage Certificate is "Filipino" then I arrive in Canada then sponsor my wife, will it cause any complications?

or should I secure Statutory Declaration (which the Philippines require in civil marriages since they will consider me "foreign" IF I declare myself Canadian) just to be sure?

*I have a Canadian passport and citizenship card so I'm pretty sure I can prove I'm Canadian.
