Hello. I’m currently on a tourist visa here in Canada since December. My 6-months stay will end in June 2022.

My long term boyfriend (Canadian citizen) and I are planning to get married on March.

Should I apply for Visitor Extension before or after we get married? Or should we just get married, apply for Inland Spousal & I stay with an “implied status” while waiting for the spousal app result?

applying for a spousal sponsorship does not give you an implied status, hence you need to apply for a visitor extension record

i was in a similar case, we got married, and towards the end of my visa expiration, filed in for the visitor status

wedding : feb 2021
application sent for sponsorship : may 2021
TRV extension submitted : june 2021
extension approved : october 2021
visitor record valid till dec 2022

we requested a year on the bases of the application to be processed and we got a year

our sponsorship application got returned due to a missing signature but i was glad i had the extension so i can stay till me resubmitted applicaiton is being processed

Hello! Thank you so much for answering. May I know what month you entered Canada as a Visitor?
