Hi,

Me (in work visa l1-b) in USA, is planning to marry in British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. My Fiancee is in India. We both have a valid visitor visa.

Could we marry in British Columbia, Vancouver,Canada by entering using our visitor visa?

My primary concern is we say we are entering vancouver for marriage, will our entry be denied? is non-resident visitors allowed to enter in visitor visa and get married in Canada?

please advice.

Thanks!
Ram

You can get married in Canada, by using visit visa to enter. You still have to prove to the immigration officer upon entry that you will leave after your wedding. Both you and your future wife needs to show ties to home country, or provide return flight tickets.

To get married in Canada, you need to purchase marriage license, typically at least a few days before your wedding ceremony date. So you need to arrive few days early. This may differ from province to province, better do your research. When you get the marriage license, you may be asked for two pieces of identification. Since you are not Canadian resident, you may need to provide birth certificate (translated to english).
