Hi,

I moved to Canada on a work permit to be with my finance. Then I got married, She is a Canadian citizen and I am a US Green Card Holder. Now I need to apply for residency based on her sponsorship.

What would be the best process for applying for residency. I am a US Green Card Holder ?

If I apply inland I know I can apply for an open workpermit. However it might take longer duration I was told.

I am not sure whether I can apply outland, since I am actually living and working in Canada ? Can I also apply outland. What are the Pros and Cons.

Cheers

I'm on a work permit as well, and I am currently working here in Canada. You can apply inland, however it would take much longer. It would take about 6 months for them to give you an open work permit and get first stage approval. Plus, you can't travel out of Canada while your application is in process.Outland would be better, as you can travel outside of the country. It would only take about 4-6 months or so before you get approved for PR.
I opted for an outland application since from the previous cases, it seems faster.

One has nothing to do with the other. Being here on a work permit does not prevent you from applying outland.

and the times will be the same as normal outland - I mean for people staying in Canada as visitors?
