Hi everyone!

I just got married to my boyfriend of 8 years,a Filipino but a Permanent Resident in Canada last december 2012. Not taking any chances, i applied for a tourist visa in Canada for our "extended honeymoon" this april.. If i am granted the visa for 6 months, we plan to file the inland immigrant visa as spouse once im in Canada.

Do you think I have a big chance of getting the TRV?

Thanks!!! :) Hopeful to be with my husband soon. :)

1. Unlikely, since your intention is to remain permanently in Canada rather than visit.

Hi,

First congratulations being newly-wed. :)

As for your application, be specific about the intention of your visit - it should be clear that your application is for temporary visit only (i.e. extended honeymoon). Your lawyer background will serve you good here :) - as then you can prepare your application package to dispel any doubt on the VO that you will not overstay your approved visit duration should you be granted a visa.

Among other proofs required for a TRV, a good employment history at well as documented travel history do show ties to the country, being able to support yourself and shows that you have not-over-extended your visits in these countries. That certificate of employment does hold you in good stead. Aside from this, please be specific about your itinerary for your visit.

/all the best....

Thank you for the greeting!:)

Yes, I have sent my travel history (visited 2 countries in the past 2 years), husband and I made a very specific trip itinerary (places and all), I am just hoping that I will be given a TRV as soon as possible. By the way, my estimated date of departure for canada is on the 25th.

I have 7000 CAD as pocket money for the trip, and my hubby sent his bank certificate too containing 5000 CAD, i hope its enough.

Thank you. I cannot have my spouse visa processed in the Philippines since it may take a year. Will update you as soon as I have feedback from CIC.

I hope anyone who have been granted TRV, and a spouse of a Canadian citizen/Permanent REsident can provide me insights on my situation. Thank you!

Hi there,
My Irish common law spouse is extended his Temporary Resident Permit based on the fact that we have applied for a sponsorship application. It was approved as applicants can apply based on dual intent. These are the things that we included in our package. Keep in mind he is technically from a visa-exempt country, it was still important that we extend his temporary visitor record.

1. Letter from me confirming that I will be supporting him financially during his extended stay
2. Confirmation from my employer confirming my employment and salary
3. Paystub
4. Copy of joint bank account statement
5. Notarized Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union
6. Invoice from our current lawyer confirming payment for Spousal Application
7. E-receipt from Citizenship and Immigration Canada for payment of Spousal sponsorship application
8. Letter from my common law spouse explaining our relationship and purpose of extension
9. List of my common law spouse's family in Ireland (to prove he has ties in Ireland)

TRP and TRV aren't the same things. The fact he's from a visa-exempt country is a big factor too.

How do you show previous travel history if you have a new passport ( previous one was lost). My boyfriend is applying for a TRV for Canada and he has been to Canada before but his passport was lost so he has a new passport

hi sorry late reply!

thanks, i got my TRV and now im in Canada facing another dilemma. my inland application and extension of stay application.

do i file the extension of stay application in the same envelope as in my inland application or separately??

As regards the papers i sent for my TRV, past travel history, clear intention to return to philippines and proof of funds are things i think very vital for one to get approved. during my time, i sent all documents i can showing na my purpose to visit was legitimate and proof of our relationship namin ni husbnad, ever since bf-gf days up until after the wedding.

Out of curiousity, why don't you apply for the open work permit instead?

Your extension of stay can be denied. If you file for the OWP, you can stay as a visitor. Once you get the OWP (after Stage 1) then you'll be allowed to work as well.

They go in the same package, hopefully you have things separated. Put the TRV/OWP app in its own folder and write a description on the front in wide tip marker.
