My wife of 8 years is applying for a Canadian tourist visa. We will attempt a spousal visa later but we need a visa as quick as possible therefore she is applying for a visitor visa for now.

2 Questions:
a) Does being married to a Canadian help her chances of getting a tourist visa (providing all other requirements are met)?

b) Why isn't there a question anywhere that asks "Have you ever visited Canada before*?

Why would there be?

1. It could as long as all other requirements are fulfilled.

2. If you are applying on paper iv seeen this option to be entered other than ur country of residence or nationality where all u have travelles to be entered

Hi
Wouldn't it show good faith that you have been to Canada twice before and both times you left on the dates of your plan ticket. Also, it would show you didn't cause any hick-ups when you were there last time. I think it would show a relationship with the country. That's what I think.
