Married Status in PR application

Hi Guys, hope you can help us on this ! This forum is great by the way.

Here is my understanding of our situation: I am Canadian (born in Quebec, lives in Toronto) and I met my girlfriend here, she is from France on a work-holiday visa (expires mid-November 2017). She is now applying for the PR (416 overall score) but the processing takes time, so she will have to apply for an open bridging visa at the same time in order to be able to continue to work under the implied status. I have two questions:

1. First, are my assumptions correct in the paragraph above?

2. If we get married (married only under civil union, not sponsorship application, because she is now on her own way to the PR), will it help her in any way? In which way the married status can help if we are not pursuing the sponsorship? Can she continue to work in Canada, with or without the implied status?

Cheers,

She is on good track. Let her apply for bowp and procesing time for EE is only 6 months. Your status can help but dont have to, she will need provide more documents and might lose some points. Once she apply for bowp and her work permit expire, she will be on implied status and she can continue work until decision will be made.

That's really good to hear, thank you Sara.

Then let me ask another question :
We have a trip planned for Christmas Holiday (important, going to see her family) outside of Canada. We read that by leaving the country she would lose the implied status, meaning that when we come back she won't be allowed to go back to work. Does getting married changes that ?

If not, then I guess our safest option would be to cancel the trip and stay in Canada until she gets the BOWP / PR.

Please let me know what you think, thanks again !

She will not be able to return to Canada on implied status. You should wait for her application to be approved first. Being married to you doesn't change that.
Understood.

She applied via EE on September 26th. How long does it usually take to receive the Acknowledgement of Receipt ?
She needs that to apply for the BOWP before her current visa ends (mid-November) in order to get the implied status... Just worrying a bit about time here ! I searched the forum and it seems to vary a lot.

Thanks :)

Hi, as soon as she receives ITA (Invitation to apply) thanks to being selected from the pool of candidates, she fills in the whole application and will receive the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) within next 24 hours after submitting. Which means it takes about a day to receive the AOR but first, she needs to be selected with her 416 points which to be honest, is not much and the chance that she'll be selected with this score by the end of the year is, as per my understanding, very low. Sorry for being negative o_O Try to analyze how many candidates are in the pool and what previous rounds score was - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/rounds.asp

No worries, we need to be realist ! Thank you for your input.
In that case, we might change our strategy and I thought I would share it : she will probably apply for a working visa for french speakers called Mobilité Francophone (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/opinion/francophone.asp), done via her employer, whom have been very supporting.

Cheers,

Yeah and since she's French, she has such a huge advantage and she also has so many other options that people from other countries don't. She can also apply for Young Professionals.

The thing is, the Mobilite Francophone work permit is not an extension of her current 2-year Working Holiday Visa, it's a new work permit. Does that mean that she won't get the implied status when the current WP comes to an end, while she waits for the new one ? It's technically a different permit, therefore not an extension...

Regarding the Mobilite Francophone WP :

Please advise, we are starting to worry !
