Marriage to foreign national - IDs need translating?

On the marriage license application it says I must provide an ID for both myself and my fiancee. My finacee's passport and birth certificate are in Spanish. I can't find any information regarding whether I am require to provide a legal translation of these documents or not. I've asked this question of several marriage license issuers and they all aren't sure either. Any experiences people have had with this?

As far as I know, cic asks for a certified translation of any documents that are originally not in English/French. At least this is what they say in help centre:

Thanks, I think however that's mostly just relevant to immigration oriented applications. This would be a separate division I believe, the marriage division? I know eventually when I sponsor her for permanent residency I will need all documents to be translated. I am just wondering about the actual marriage, as I am sure there must be a fair number of people here who have gone through this experience and would know whether they had to get the foreign language IDs translated or not.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood your question. I provided my passport at that moment, though my name was written there in both English and native language. For the second one I used either Ontario id or the credit card.

But this is just my experience, hope anyone else here can help you with that.
