I am a Canadian PR living in Canada for the last 3 years. My fiance had applied for PR as single in Nov,2019 and received her COPR in May,2020. But we got married in Feb,2020 and did not declare it in her application. What should I do now?

Your now wife needs to inform IRCC of the marriage before she lands. She should have done this in February or March.

They will need to process your file and add you to her COPR. This used to take a few months, pre-COVID.

My file? I'm already a PR- do I need to go through a medical/background check process?

Can we get our marriage registered in Canada after she lands in Canada to avoid this delay?

Others can comment/correct as as well but She should have declared the marriage in Feb 2020 before her COPR was issued. If she lands as single but is actually married there is possibility that could be considered misrepresentation if discovered. COVID or not no real excuse for not declaring as that is the rule to notify IRCC of any change in circumstances during the application process

No you are already married even if it wasn’t registered in Canada. It shouldn’t create huge delays but she needs to tell CIC that she is married before she lands.

Absolutely, 100% not. If she lands without adding you to the COPR you are banned from being sponsored or added to her COPR.

If you are already married, you would have to lie on a legal form in Canada and declare that you are unmarried to register the marriage in Canada.

Thank you everyone for the honest answers and opinion. We will contact CIC and list my name as her spouse. Can I just mention that we missed declaring this? and go from there? How much would be the processing time?

No one knows the processing time. It used to be a few weeks to a few months.

Provided that you haven't landed yet, you just ask them to add your spouse. If you are asked why you didn't add her in February, you may need to explain why.

Will the points be re-calculated in the application?

OR

The application will re-open to attach details about spouse + marriage documents? and then go through the PPR->CoPR->landing process?

If you do not add your spouse and then land in Canada without adding her, you will never be allowed to sponsor her.
