Dear Sirs/Madams,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I have some questions as below:

1) In US, K-1 visa is for marriage inside US. So how about Canada, is there any visa for marriage inside Canada and then get the conditional Canada permanent residency status to stay in Canada until getting PR status and then getting Canadian Citizenship status?

2) If in Canada having another type of visa for marriage inside Canada, so how long does it take to wait for that type of visa processed if I am living in Hong Kong now?

Thanks a lot !!

The only option is visitor visa while waiting for PR in Canada. The same visa anyone can get. Check CIC site for country specific wait times.
Thanks a lot !!

As far as I am aware, the k-1 visa in the US is a fiance visa. Which canada does not have. You can only sponsor through family class once you are married or reach common law status. where you get married is irrelevant. You can either way request a visitors record or obtain a temporary resident visa ( non visa exempt countries ) to visit while permanent residency application is in process. Feel free, more experienced members to correct me. But this is my understanding. The visa to visit and the pr visa are two different things.
Plus it ls only conditional pr in certain circumstances but then it doesn't then change to another type of permanent residency later on. Then after three years of permanent residency ( conditional or otherwise) you can take the citizenship test. Then you become a citizen.

Canada does not have the equivalent of a K-1 visa for fiancees. You can come to Canada as a visitor and get married here, or you can get married in Hong Kong. Once you are married, your Canadian spouse can sponsor you for a PR visa. Once you get the PR visa and 'land' in Canada, you must stay with your spouse for two years. Before this two year period is up, you have a conditional PR. After, you have a PR. However, in Canada the two are the same: with either you can work, get government health care, etc. You can become a citizen after staying in Canada for 3 out of 4 years.

There is no other type of visa for marrying. If you have a Hong Kong passport, you can enter Canada as a visitor without a visa. So you can come to Canada, get married, and then apply for your PR visa.
