Hello,

I've got a question and would appreciate your advice.

My girlfriend and I are thinking of getting married in June 2012, and I am thinking of applying under Skilled Workers in July 2012, adding her in the application as my spouse.

Will the Canadian government question our marriage since it's so near to our application? We have been together for many years.

Thank you everyone.

Marriage just before the start of application or in between the application process can be suspected by VO, for that one should file the marriage registration certificate and few photographs of marriage. In addition to this it would be better if the name of spouse can be incorporated in passport also.

So it wouldn't matter even if we tried to get married as early as March (four months before application)?

I got married 3 months before my application was received in Sydney, I didnt send any photos or any other kind of proof but my marriage certificate, and I got PER, so I dont think so it would be a problem. Good luck with your marriage and with your applicattion

Marriage is suspected as Fraud most probably in Family Sponsorship Applications where a canadian PR is seeking to bring his dependant to Canada. Where in most cases a spouse will definitely get a visa and join it's partner there.
While in FSW you'll be applying together, so chances are similar for both of you since u'r on the same application, so it's unlikely to be fraud marriage, at least in CIC oppinion.
I have the same case and have sent an e-mail to Beirut Visa Office, there answer was that in FSW applications one can apply as married or may update his application if he get married meanwhile the processing time.
But we're planing to do it before to benefit from my spouses adaptability points (education)
Best Regards.
