There is not special visa needed to get married in Canada, providing you have a travel visa you'll be OK

This is what my husband and i did. Just make sure you have the acceptable ids to get your license and that theyre translated

You probably don't want to tell cbsa officer you're visiting to get married ;)

@starnaenae What do you mean by "acceptable ID's" should I count Passport into this?
and one more question I would like to ask is that what happens after we get married
1. Do I get to work after my marriage licence?
2. How much time does the licence takes?
3. During that licence process can I come back to my country?

@Hunks thanks!
@bafon will keep that in mind!

youll have to check on the website for your province.. my husband used his national id card and passport translated - we got it that day, i dont know how you get to work after the license... hes not working while waiting for the PR process and i dont see why not.. you need the license to get married, it doesnt bind you but you cant legally get married in canada without it.. you provide this to the person marrying you and they send it off to stat canada and you get your certificate about 8 weeks later

You need passport and something else with the address on normally to get a marriage license and you get it that same day. Different provinces have different rules in how quickly you can get married after getting the licence. You take it to whoever is performing the ceremony and they take it all from there and send it off after the ceremony.
You are not given a right to work or anything after marriage you have to apply for PR.
I don't know if you will be an inland or outland applicant for PR, inland you can apply for an open work permit but I know little about this so I could be wrong and can't advise.
Do you mean after getting the licence or after getting married?

Is your wife a Canadian citizen or PR? Or is she an international student on a student visa?

@Hunks i am assuming that I get licence only after my marriage so yes I want to know if I can work before and after the licence

@jptskt my girl friend is an international student on student visa

You get the license before getting married. After you get a certificate. Unless you have an owp you cannot work if you are not a resident of canada

You won't be able to work before or after getting the marriage license on a tourist visa. You will have to go back to your country before your tourist visa expires or apply for an extension to stay in Canada but you won't be able to work during this time.

Also where your girlfriend is an international student she won't qualify to sponsor you as she herself is not a permanent resident or citizen of Canada. Your only way to work in Canada will be to apply for another type of visa like a working holiday visa or some other type of work visa if you yourself will qualify in order to be able to work in Canada.

You mean certificate which you get after. If she is just a student on a student visa she won't be able to sponsor you

Post in the International Student section of the forum. This section is for Canadian citizens/PRs sponsoring their family members.
