Hello,

I got married on May 1st 2018. After my marriage and after my spouse received his IELTS results (which was May 6th 2018), I updated my EE profile and added him to my application as a spouse. I received an ITA on May 23rd 2018.

However, because we did not hand in the necessary documents required to obtain a marriage certificate within the first 7 days after marriage, the date on my marriage certificate is now going to be June 5th.

How do I go about this situation? Should I put in my original ceremony date (which is May 1st 2018) and then right a letter of explanation explaining the different dates (I can attach a copy of my wedding invitation). Or is there another way to go about this situation?

You can attach your wedding invitation, along with pictures in addition to your marriage certificate. Explain the scenario clearly in your LOE.

Thanks! So which date should I put as my marriage date? 1st May 2018 (original date) or 5th June 2018 (date on marriage certificate)?

I would say if your certificate shows a new date there is no point getting into LOE stuff that you can easily avoid. Mention whatever your certificate mentions. Anyways it is not going to make any difference in your points or anything else, is it?

If OP puts the date in the marriage certificate, that means she has lied about being married on the day she entered her spouse details. Even if she put the date on the certificate, she has to explain it in the LOE. So she can't avoid LOE for her case.

Buddy if the written proof mentions a date, that needs not be explained.....there is no question of misrepresentation here...rest is upto Dhrtishah...

Written proof says June 5th 2018 she got married. But she entered that she is married on May 1st 2018. Can you spot the misrepresentation?

Correct and I got an ITA based on the fact that I was married on May 1st - added my spouse on May 6th - got ITA on May 23rd.

The date on the written proof is different from the actual marriage date. I got an ITA based on the fact that I got married on May 1st 2018.

Okay so best solution would be to put 1st May and then write an LOE explaning why the date on the marriage certificate is different? With attachments of invitation, license to conduct marriage etc.?
Yeah
