to sponsor a spouse, do we really need to send the original marriage license... are they gonna give them back? what about a photocopy? will they accept a photocopy of the certyificate?

we sent only photocopies... but our's is an inland case and our lawyer told us in the interview they will want to see the original documents.

You need to check your Region Specific Guide and send whatever they require. If it says Original, then send the original. If it's photocopy, send photocopy. When we got married, we requested 2 "originals", one of which we sent with our application. We got it back when the process was finished.
