I have to get my marriage certificate for the express entry process and I want to know what should I put as my spouse name in it. Should that be her maiden name or her married name. She already have Passport with married name and the confusion is if having marriage certificate with her maiden name will create any issues with the PR process.

Hello Akash,

Its better your wife's name in the marriage certificate be her maiden name.

Thanks for the quick reply. Was just wondering if I should go to the complicated process of name change at my place to avoid the complications later on. But your reply certainly ease that out.

Marriage certificate will always have a woman's maiden name for the logical reason that if she chooses to take your name it is after the wedding. However, at the time of your wedding her name is her maiden name.
