Sorry if this is a dumb question but when I look at the document checklists (both the general one and the Berlin office) I'm not sure whether a copy or the original is required.

The Berlin office checklist says:
"IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS
Provide national identity cards, birth certificates, baptismal certificates or other official document
confirming relationship for you and each of your family members.
If you are married, you must include a marriage certificate. etc..."

Now obviously we didn't submit original identity cards or birth certificates, etc. so it doesn't automatically follow that I would include an original marriage certificate. I don't want to risk the application being delayed but I actually need the marriage certificate for a bunch of other things and wonder if I really need to bother ordering another original... hmmm...

What did you guys send?

Thanks and a big cheers,
TLH

UGH, sorry guys, we must be BLIND!!! (we've both been looking for an hour now) We just found it on the top of Appendix A, our Region Specific checklist (3901e for Western Europe):

"Send originals of the immigration forms (items 1 to 5 below) and police certificates. Send photocopies of all other documents, unless instructed otherwise."

I was going to delete my original thread but thought it might be helpful in case there are any other other visually impaired folk with the same question ;-) (and yes, I used the search function on this forum first... didn't lead me to the definitive answer though.)

Me 'n my seeing eye dog'll be off now and stop bothering you nice people.

Toodles!

Oh la la, MERCI ! It's not really a sense of humour, per se, only stress over an impending PhD deadline.... eek!

BTW, I've added ya to my "buddy list" :-D

Sense of humor or stress I think your comments are uplifting and funny! Believe me, we have done the same as you when it comes to not seeing the necessary information that is right in front of us. It is good to know we are not the only ones.
