Hi All,

I have got the ITA this July and in the process of document submission. I have a query..

My wife passport doesn't mention that she is married to me nor we have got her name changed after marriage. We have a valid marriage certificate which clearly show that we are married. I NEED TO ASK WHETHER IT IS COMPULSORY TO GET THESE DETAILS CHANGED IN THE PASSPORT ALSO??

No its not. That is why they are asking for the marriage certificate to confirm marriage. Most people don't do name change.

You are fine, don't overthink things.

the marriage certificate should contain the exact same names as mentioned in passport..
u are good to go then...

Thanks dream2016 and hotshot... +1 to both

I think your best bet, would be to state the reason why she has not done a change of name on her passport in your letter of explanation.

Personally I don't think changing name after marriage is a requirement. Most people these days don't do it so in my opinion an LOE is not needed as long as the marriage certificate has both names as per passport.

Again in my opinion this is a non issue but others experts can jump in and give their views.

I second that. The marriage certificate would suffice to validate the relationship status.

Do we still need to upload the marriage certificate even if this info can be seen from wife's passport?

No harm in doing that. I imagine either of the 2 documents would suffice entirely on their own as proof of marriage.

Does AFFIDAVIT (ANNEXURE-D) notarized and attested be considered as a valid marriage certificate for EE ? It generally is accepted by passport office to give PCC.
