Hi again,
I am wondering what is the procedure of getting marriage certificate in India. I would need it for sponsoring my wife from India. Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Vishal

here you go ........ http://india.gov.in/howdo/howdoi.php?service=3

Once you are on the site you'll see a dropdown box on the right where you can pick your state and get specific instructions.

what i did was we both had to go to committe office of our city and they asked for our joint fotografs n just issued us the marrige certificate

hey .. we went to our nearest Register Officer in chennai with our marriage photographs and id and address proofs and applied for marriage certificate .. we got it from them in 3days ..

My Parents & in-laws was were with me which speed up the process.

You have the fill the two forms,
Get it attested from suvidha.
after tht you need to go to regional office.

It can only be issued from where you got the Ration Card\Voter Card or simply your permanent address. It can also b issued from your wife natives.
Any one of you(u or your wife) must have Permament residence proof of the ward.
