Marriage Certificate for Indian Parents Visitor Visa

Hi,

I am currently staying in Canada and applying visitor visa for my parents. However CIC provided required documents list and marriage certificate is one them.

My parents got married 40 years ago and do not holding any legal marriage certificate.

Is there any alternative documents can I submit as proof of their relation ? Please advice .... :'(

Your birth certificate or their passport copies which state each other's names as spouse

Passport is one option. Also, there will be legal affidavit (that can be used for obtaining passports) might be used. But not sure.

Affidavits do not prove that someone is married
