Marriage Cerificate in Ontario

Is there any specifics ways that make the wait times decrease? From what I've read it takes 6-8 weeks before you can even order one and then another 8-10 weeks before you actually get it once you order it!

So, is there any way to speed this up?

While this was a few years ago, based on the advice I found on this forum, I ignore the instructions to wait before I applied. I applied the Monday after I got married and had mine in less than two weeks. Having said that, I understand this hasn't worked for everyone.

Last year it took them 16 weeks to issue ours.

At what point would be a good time to apply for the certificate?

If you have a good enough reason, you can send them a Fax with the reason to expedite your marriage certificate. For me it was an expiring passport, where the passport office won't issue one unless my wife's name was added to it, which needed a marriage certificate. People have had success because of other reasons too. I think they mailed out certificate within a week. It has expedited marked on it.

After a few weeks of nothing, I faxed in information about our process and an explanation of why we needed the certificate faster than normal. Received it less than a week after I sent the fax.

From what I have gathered in this thread and after reading a few others I have found, it seems that if you send a fax or letter explaining why you need your certificate quicker than normal, you usually get it with in the month
