Hi friends,

I would like to know what will happen if marital status changes around 4th month of receiving AOR, and the ECAS at that time is IN PROCESS (medicals received as 4th line.)

Thanks

Not a problem.

You'll have to send in Additional Family Information' form via the CSE route to CIC along with proof of your marriage. They'll proceed to add your spouse to your existing application and ask for their medicals, PCC(s) and settlement funds (if that applies in your case). This will delay your application processing but that's not a bad thing because your spouse will get PR status along with you.

All the best!

Thank you Asivad! But is there an option to not do that?, as I would not want to delay my PR process. I am already working in Canada and even if my partner do not have PR, my company will work for providing her Open Work Permit after the marriage.

So, the better scenario for me is to get my PR first, instead of delaying it further. Is this possible?

Thanks

Depends on when you get married.

You will have to tell CIC immediately afterwards. You cannot keep that fact hidden. If you get married before you 'land' in Canada with PR status, your spouse will be added to your application. If you get married after that event, they won't get PR status along with you.

When I said it will delay your application, I meant delay in terms of weeks to sort out the paperwork for your spouse. I' would think that's good news considering the fact that your spouse will get their PR status simultaneously without going through the hassles of family sponsorship.

Same case with Me,

how much time it can be delayed?

It can add a few months to the process since CIC will have to review your spouse's paperwork, medical and background/security checks.

But you have no choice. If you get married before you land in Canada - you must add your spouse to your application. Failing to do so is misrepresentation - which means you can never sponsor your spouse in the future. Additionally, it means CIC could revoke your PR status since you will have obtained your PR status through lying (by saying you were single when you were in fact married).

If you are now married - you MUST add your spouse to your application.

Still no update.

Called CIC yesterday, call centre agent said i need to wait

But didn't tell how long.

all plans are on hold

same here.

The application was submitted in October, we got married in December and we informed CIC in January.

Afterwards, we observed that medicals changed from Passed to "Review in Progress". Also, we received an email in March requesting that we pay RPRF which was paid and alongside the initial application and update done after we got married. So we decided to write a letter and also attached the required receipts. The section for submitted documents changed to provided. BG has been

I hope we get an update this week.

i apid RPRF upfront for my self and also for my wife. called up the CIC call center they said my wife has been added to the application.

BG has been in progress since march 17th but nothing after that.

when has your BG gone in progress?

it has been in progress since October. We also paid RPRF upfront but i guess they didn't see it or maybe it was a general email to everyone. See the email below.

This is in reference to your application for a permanent resident visa, which has been found eligible in the Class for which it was submitted. Admissibility review (security, criminality and/or medical) is still ongoing; you will be contacted if additional information is required for that purpose. Before we can approve your application, we require payment of the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF). You must pay this fee before a permanent resident visa can be issued. The RPRF must be paid once for yourself as a principal applicant and once for your accompanying spouse or common law partner, if applicable. If you delay the payment of the RPRF, your security or medical results may expire, which would delay the issuance of your visas. We therefore encourage you to pay the RPRF as soon as possible, by following these steps:

Has your wife been called for medicals?

i did upfront medicals for my wife and attached it along with the new forms i filled (genereic form and background declaration and imm 5669 ) also i attached her PCC and paid upfront processing fee and RPRF and attached the recipt.
so i bascially gave them every thing they would ask for now its just waiting .. i thought for PNP applicants as soon as BG goes in progress in a day or two they would receive PPR but this is 3rd week for me and still waiting.

whats your VO? mine is abu dhabi and heard its the slowest every after PPR they are taking a month to stamp the COPR.

Okay.

The VO is Ottawa and ours is FSW not PNP.

My husband is the principal applicant and he is in Canada while i am in Nigeria. We wanted to do the medicals upfront but after we called CIC the agents asked us to wait until we receive a request to do the medicals.

I pray we receive the request this week.
