Hey guys,

I received my passport today from Ottawa with immigrant visa stamped in it

We plan to go to North Portal next week to complete our landing

did you send your passport?
have they asked for more documents?

they usually ask you to fill this questionnaire to prove that your marriage is legit. you also need to fulfill the requirements of sponsoring your spouse.

if i had known this, i would have held off my marriage as they can think your marriage is not legit(fraud) or your spouse married you for convenience. if that's the case, you and your wife get their application rejected.

i read you dont have to worry if your marriage is legit but then you read stories that say their PR got rejected because the marriage was arranged or stupid things like difference in age.

No i didn't send my passport but i sent all of my wife's documents and proofs of my wedding.
May be there was risk but my marriage is real i knew my wife for 6 years and i have sent copy of my chat, photos, phone bills and all that i think my case is pretty solid and i hope for the best this wait is very hard specially when you are waiting for spouse now

Application received on 19 march 2014
In process- 7 November 2014
Decision made - 14 july 2015

I am one of the last men standing. Not fun. March 18 2014 applicant. I called CIC last week and mentioned my application is about to reach 16 months and no answer(not even IP). They said to call next week(this week). I called them today and they said to wait 3 more months. I asked them about the 16 months time line but the person was very rude and seemed to be in a hurry to end the call. I asked her what if in 3 months I have no answer she was like "I don't know. Call again or do what you have to do."

I emailed Ottawa. I'm hoping to get better results. I might call CIC again and hope for a better and nicer person to answer.

Hi folks I have got my passport back from Ottawa on 17th july with stamp on it. I am wondering about border crossing do i have to wait till my wife get her passport back from New Delhi or I can go and cross the border?

This is crazy .... I called CIC and they told 16 months starts when Ottawa received your file. Ottawa received my file in Jan 2015 but my file received by Nova scotia is April 3rd 2014. So do i have to wait one more year ... What you guys say ?

they told me the same at some point. i didn't believe it. though it seems im heading towards that direction.
Email Ottawa. I find the call center isn't very useful.

Its unfair .. I really can't believe its happening to me I am not going to be that happy now when it comes as all of the curiousity is gone with this unfair treatment of CIC.

So I completed my landing process today at the North Portal Border in no time and less effort, the border services personnel that attended to us was very friendly and didn't even ask me any question at all.

I would like to seize this golden opportunity to say thank you to all that started this journey with me, to those that finished the journey before me and with me, as well as those that are yet to finish theirs. It has really been a rewarding experience knowing you all from diverse background, and sharing your valuable advice and thoughts which I would say made this forum thick, vibrant, memorable and interesting. I specifically want to wish those that are yet to get IP, DM or PPR all the very best in this odyssey, hang on tight and sooner or later you all will end this journey with a bright smile ;D Weeping may last all through the night but your joy will surely come in the morning.

Once again thank you all and I hope our path will cross again.

our passports have been dispatched from Ottawa today. I hope I get the stamped passports before the weekend. Can we cross the border / do the landing process during the weekend?

I believe you should be able to do your landing any day of the week, most border crossings are suppose to open 24/7 with exceptions to some small bother crossings.

finally I also got my PPR today.. wait is over after 16 months.. seems like most of us have it now from March and April, may be only couple of applicants I saw still waiting. do not worry everything will be alright with the right time..
