Hi guys, I'm actually now working on my mom's application for citizenship and I have some questions for her application if someone could help me since everyone here is experienced..

1. In the past 6 years, she's stayed in Canada for 4 complete and 1 partial year. She had forgotten to file taxes for that partial year since she was new and alone. Although she has filed taxes for 4 of the 6 years, I'm wondering if I should get her to file that 1 partial year's taxes too before the application- or can it wait till later??

2. She went on a vacation to India and Dubai for 2 months last year where she didn't really have fixed addresses. Where and how should I report this in the application? Since it doesn't fall under work or education right..its between a work period actually..

Will appreciate any feedback. Thanks! :)

Any news from mississauga office, it seems to be slow in processing,

Hi,

I think filed taxes for 4 of the 6 years are good enough, since they only required you to fill in 4 years in the application.

For the second question, I think you only need to say that she travels to India and Dubai on the Physical Presence Calculator form and indicate the reasons for travelling. And on the application form, you can just simply left out those two months.

Those suggestions are only based on my experiences, hope they would help. :)

i can answer your question..
1. 20 questions
2. you have more than enough time than you think, some finish it in 5,10,20,30 or even until the examiner says times up.im not sure how much time they allocated in the exam, maybe one hour.
3. yes and there are true or false where you have only two options. as far as i remember it was 4 options normally if its not true or false
4. if you finish the exam fast, you can be called for interview as soon as they finish checking your answer sheet. again it varries, sometimes 10,20,30......
5. personal questions, like your job, address, your family ( just to prove that you can talk in english or french)

hope it helps

Hi Kurt - thank you for the reply. How easy is the test?

Hi Kurt - thank you for the reply. How easy is the test?
Kurt is right. I just want to add that the time limit for the exam is 30 minutes (20 questions). To me it was easy, I got 20/20. I did prepare for this exam. Goodluck!
