i have doubt which i like to clear. Now Inland sponsorship application has to be Online through PR portal. Here is the question: My friend is a canadian citizen. He married with A girl who has work permit will expire on19 april 2025. Now he want to help file the application for her spouse permanent residence and also for extension of open work permit. Question is who will make the account on PR portal and submit the application. Currently his spouse that is girl have made the account and applying. or Sponser that is Canadian citizen should file the application. Please clear the process and can both the application pr and extention of work can be filed in PR portal

I created the account and applied, I was the PA. My husband, the sponsor, helped fill out the forms but we used my account

I don't think you can do the extension of the work permit through the PR portal https://prson-srpel.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/login

Use this portal to:

• apply for permanent residence
• apply on behalf of another individual for permanent residence [For resettled refugees only]
• apply for, renew or replace a permanent resident (PR) card [For PRs only]
• apply for a permanent resident travel document (PRTD) [For PRs only]
• confirm your permanent residence

The girl is the Primary Applicant (PA) and she is the one who is applying for PR. Her husband is the sponsor and he cannot create the Permanent Residency profile. Keep in mind that since she is in Canada and on presumably open work permit, she can only apply for OWP extension once the AOR is received.

The principal applicant can create an account and submit the application. Additionally, since the work permit is expiring on April 19, 2025, as per IRCC article- https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/spouse-partner-children/spouse-common-law-partner-canada-open-work-permit.html
She may apply for an extension of open work permit without the AOR if the following two conditions are met:

You can only apply for a work permit without an AOR if you meet both of the following criteria:

• your work permit, study permit or temporary resident status will expire in 2 weeks or less and
• you’ve applied for permanent residence under one of the following classes:
  • the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (SCLPC) as a spouse or common-law partner
  • the family class as a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner (sponsored overseas)
