I checked my cic account today and saw Application/Profile updated but it was showing read and there was no update, and now it’s back to submitted. Any idea is it was a glitch?

It’s a glitch, I even have that update on my work permit that approved years ago lol
It's a glitch, happened in my profile last saturday too, nothing changed. I think they do some kind of maintenance.!
thats not a glich, it is a GU(ghost update) that means something has updated in your file, may be your eligibility has passed or criminality or security has passed, it can be anything. You have to call ircc if you want detail about that

On April 21st when I checked my profile had similar experience.
- "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check."
We all have the same status.
May be you didn't notice but your background check status got updated.
