When did u submit ur application and when did you got emails saying they have received ur application ?
I called cic , and they told me they are doing my background check and my file is in Scarborough, I dont know if they meant that it's done and Scarborough office is closed at the moment due to lockdown.

March 3rd sent, march 5th received. AOR is October 20th. Scarborough office is opened as they continue sending test invites but doing that randomly.

Are those guys authorized to do Fingerprinting?

As per this CIC website for Biometrics I don't see them listed for Winnipeg, https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/where-to-give-biometrics.asp

Yes, they are accredited by RCMP and IRCC. But if you want further confirmation, give them a call. Also, they describe the requirements to take FP for the purpose of citizenship same as stated in the correspondence from IRCC. Good luck.

I mailed my application in early may 2020. They emailed my early Nov 2020 saying that they have recieved my application. How many people are still waiting for the test to be issued. I have to go back to India in Oct for my sis wedding. But my indian passport expires in June. So I am wondering if I should renew it or wait for canadian one. Please advise.

I applied in February 2020, and there's still nothing. A lot of people from late 2019 are still waiting for their test invites. If you applied in May 2020, the best bet would be to renew your Indian passport. You'll have to be really lucky to get your application finalized before October.

Did you check with them what step are they at for your application?

I ordered GCSM notes, only criminality passed. I don't see many December 2019 applicants taking tests. So May 2020 is at least 5 months away (assuming CIC is operating at the same speed as now) - so July-August for the test, September -October for the oath.
with the travel plans in October it's tight

I think you should renew your passport considering they are finalizing only March 2019 applicants at the moment which is a BIG backlog. We have lot more months to go before anything happens unless you are December 2020 online lucky bunch!

If you have a few weeks before your card expires, you should have been on the ball and started the renewal process months ago; it's advised to renew 9 months before expiry due to the variations in processing times in a post-COVID world. (Mine expires this September and I filed for renewal at end of last December and they just acknowledged my request last week.)

I'd get right on it. HOWEVER, keep in mind that you will still have PR status, expired card or not - the card is purely a travel document, so if you don't plan on traveling, you'll be fine until you get the new one.

I just saw this, March 2019. I actually thought it was March 2020, my whole family is celebrating. Let me correct myself. I really do not understand what is causing IRCC to be delayed. You have 1 JOB to do. Process applications. Imagine we depended on IRCC to rollout vaccination programs across the country.

My own PR application took close to 2 years to complete, my spouse's sponsorship took 1.5 years and now my citizenship is approaching the 1 year mark with no end in sight.


Full marks to IRCC for never disappointing. Atleast they are consistent in effing me over.
