Hi guys,

Does anyone know what's the current processing time for PR card renewal?
I wasn't planning on renewing, but the citizenship process seems to take way longer than I had anticipated and has put me in a dilemma about whether I should renew the PR card or not?

I have a few weeks before it expires. I also wanted to know if I should inform/update IRCC if I do go ahead and renew the PR card?

Thank you.
You can check processing times from here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...vices/application/check-processing-times.html

If you have a few weeks before your card expires, you should have been on the ball and started the renewal process months ago; it's advised to renew 9 months before expiry due to the variations in processing times in a post-COVID world. (Mine expires this September and I filed for renewal at end of last December and they just acknowledged my request last week.)

I'd get right on it. HOWEVER, keep in mind that you will still have PR status, expired card or not - the card is purely a travel document, so if you don't plan on traveling, you'll be fine until you get the new one.

Fingerprint taken today 27/02/2021 will be sent to RCMP for check. They said it will be mailed directly to CIC, is it true?

I took it in Brampton UPS 506. They are very good and organized.

Hello Friends. My wife forgot to take her PR card picture before starting the online test. What will happen. She did pass the test by scoring 19/20. Did anyone did this mistake. Please need some advice.

ircc will reach out and ask for an identification document with a signature on it so the PR card will not work. You either need a drivers license or provincial health card

Given that December online applicants are already being invited to their tests and will be citizens soon, would it make sense to just submit an online application instead of waiting for the paper one from a year ago to get processed? Who would have thought doing everything online would be faster? ;)

Happy application anniversary to us all!

I don't think I will as then waiting for a year makes it useless and our patience in vain. We will just say December people are luck to get their citizenship prior to any of us.

I would not submit an online application and wait to hear from them about paper application because applying twice would do more harm than good which puts a layer of confusion and then you would end up waiting more than you actually would.

That's true, that might even delay the process further. Oh well....
