Any update on biometrics in India? I am an Outland FSW. March AOR.

I also hold a PGWP. I am thinking about going to Canada and change my application to Inland. Is it a viable option?

I understand that I might have to update my PCC once I go back to Canada. But am I missing anything else?

Thanks.

Biometrics in India have still not resumed. But I see on the VFS site that a lot of locations have resumed services in the last few days. Hopefully India will start soon too.

Long-time lurker here. I’ve finally taken the plunge and created an account here to post. This is an incredibly helpful forum with lots of great advice. Thanks everyone here for all the help you provide!

I would really grateful if the learned people here could answer a few questions I have. I am a primary applicant with my wife a secondary applicant from Pune, India. Our AOR was 5th March 2020 and we completed our biometrics on 16th March, just before the lockdown.

We got two ghost updates (one on 17th September and one on 4th November). We ordered GCMS notes a few days back and it said that everything has been finalized and is just waiting for a Final Review. We don’t really know what’s happening so if someone could help us out:

  • Is anyone else from India with similar AORs getting the golden PPR mails now? Is anyone else in a similar position with us who has got a PPR?
  • We had got our medicals done in January 2020 and so they will only be valid till January 2021. What happens if we do not get our PPR till then? Will IRCC extend the validity of our medicals? Will we have to take the medicals again?
  • Our agent told us that all VACs in India are closed and hence, even if we get the PPR, we will not be to get our passports stamped. Is this true?
I guess basically what we’re asking is can we expect some good news now? Or we have no other choice but to wait?

if there are others in the same boat as us, please feel free to ping. We can help each other out and show solidarity.

Many thanks!

Thanks for your reply!

I'm still curious about the terminology of an agent/officer. Is agent=officer? My eligibility is marked "passed" but no officer mentioned, only agent.

The note you have is from a agent and not an officer.

So you will have to wait for an officer to make a final determination.

Our application is almost exactly like yours. March 6 AOR and gave biometrics on 17 March. According to GCMS notes, our application has been finalised. I called IRCC and they told me the same thing. But they said at this point we just have to wait till things open up in India. The agent asked me to keep an eye on all forms of communication (email, postal). Since they’ve started the 2-way courier system in India, we might be issued PPRs through that method even if vfs doesn’t open up soon.
Our medical expires in jan too. Usually they extend your medical by themselves and you don’t have to redo them, but there can be exceptions. And a PPR cannot be issued if your medical has expired. I intend to wait till mid-December and then I’ll send in a mail enquiring about what can be done about my meds expiring in jan. hopefully we’ll have a clearer picture about VACs by then as well.
All in all, bad timing for applicants from India.

Many thanks, Nuzhat, for the very informative response, especially the points about checking our postal boxes as well and the point about medicals. Yes, it is an exceptionally bad time for us in India.

Just for your info and others as well, my agent was speculating that IRCC were not giving PPRs as candidates would not be able to their visas processed at VFS as all VFS centres in India are closed. I don't know what to make of it, but just hoping for some positive news.

If anyone else is in the same boat as us, please feel free to comment and share joys/sorrows! ;)

Just called ircc and even criminality is passed now. All stages passed. Gave biometrics on 28tj October. So basically just have to wait now for final approval decision and copr.

Pretty relief but the wait continues...

Oh, I see. So it's more like three stages system. Assistant, agent and then officer. When does the officer level start? After transferring my application to my visa processing office?
Strange is, when I called IRCC, the agent told me the eligibility is passed too. But I guess it's miscommunication.

Yes the first level is the Program analyst at the case processing center which does r10 check.

Then second is Case Analyst at the visa office.

Finally the Officer Review at the visa office for final comments.

So three stages.
